1. The Purpose

Not that you need a reason to put an LS1 engine into different types of cars, but this one had a real purpose. This Volkswagen Golf R32 was built for drifting in Scandinavia. Driver Daniel Bjork, in collaboration with Peter Steinwandt, originally built this Golf and won the 2012 North European Zone with it. After the R32's success in 2012, Daniel was due for a new car, which leads Dala Performance to take it and continue on its legacy.

2. The Heart

Under the tight hood of this Golf is a large V8 LS1 engine. The dry-sumped motor develops 450-horsepower, with Wiseco pistons and Lunati forged rods, as well as a forged stroker crankshaft, which increases the displacement from 5.7-liter to 6.2-liter. The new owner, Roos Bjork, installed twin-Precision turbochargers, which increased the horsepower to 1,056-at the back wheels. The LS1 works collaboratively with a four-speed Jerico transmission, and Fidanza aluminum flywheel.

3. It Gets Better

To complement the twin-turbos, the Golf R32 features a high-flow Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT EFI intake manifold, which works together with two Edelbrock fuel rails and MSD coils. The fuel is delivered through huge braided stainless steel fuel lines, a Nuke Performance adjustable regulator, and Delphi 893cc fuel injectors. The fuel is rushed to the engine using a Barry Grant 400-series fuel pump that is fed by three DeatschWerks DW301 pumps, which sit in the rear of the R32 in a custom tank.

4. Suspension, Wheels, and Tires

To support such vicious power, the R32 is equipped with custom front coilovers, Sachs dampers, four-link, and Ohlin rear coilovers. Connected to the suspension is a set of 16-inch Cragar steel wheels in the front, and 17-inch in the rear. The Golf sits on four Achilles ATR Sport Tyres. Finally, the crazy LS1 Golf R32 is stopped with four-wheel disc brakes.

5. Interior

The modifications that have happened to the Volkswagen don't end at just the engine and underpinnings of the car: Both the driver and the passenger get Sparco Sprint V bucket seats which use Sandtler harnesses to hold things in place. The original shop welded a complete roll cage, as well as installed adjustable pedals. The instrument cluster is quite simplified, and a speedometer is no-longer needed; instead, a 10,000 RPM Sport-Comp gauge sits in the center, a boost-meter is also on display, as well as oil pressure, temperature, and water pressure gauges.
