Necessary Modifications

Highly modified cars are a staple at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas, Nevada each year.  At first glance, this 2015 Lamborghini Huracan with an LS V8 might make a supercar fanatic wince, but this isn’t just an experiment... it’s a resurrection.  The Huracan was a wrecked vehicle without an engine before it fell into the hands of the B is for Build team who saved the supercar from the scrapyard.

No Barnyard Parts

The B is for Build team didn’t just tear the engine out a wrecked Corvette and drop it into the 2015 Lamborghini Huracan.  The new powerplant is an LS 7.0-liter produced by Texas Speed & Performance of Georgetown, Texas. Texas Speed & Performance specializes in race enhancements for LS engines and Chevy vehicles.

No competition

In addition to the 7.0-liter LS V8 monster powerhouse of an engine, the B is for Build team added a pair of turbochargers to the mix.  The resulting horsepower rating is somewhere in the 1,500hp range which is insanely awesome.  The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission from an Audi R8 because rowing your own gears is just more fun.

Super Speed

A 1,500-horsepower rating is an incredible feat considering that a 2015 Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce produces 740 horsepower with the factory Lamborghini engine intact.  A Bugatti Chiron with a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter engine has a matched 1,500 horsepower rating with 1,180 pound-foot of torque but is probably way more expensive to service.

American Supercars

The B is for Build team and Texas Speed & Performance may be doing more than saving a beautiful car and doubling its original horsepower rating.  They may be making a statement that LS technology can compete with enormously priced Italian supercars and with better reliability.  Corvette also seems to be taking a shot at the Europeans with the introduction of the mid-engine C8 Stingray. The new Vette’s that looks every bit as capable of nail-biting speed as any hi-po Ferrari and Lamborghini.
