Light weight clutch options for LS1/M3
Light weight clutch options for LS1/M3 Looking for a light weight clutch. I read the two other threads about this.
I'm building an E36 M3 with an LS1 which will be used for track days and some street driving. It should put down 400rwhp, weigh in right at 3000lbs.
I already have a Fidanza Al. flywheel, weighs about 12lbs
What's available and will the combination of Al. flywheel and Al. clutch make it undriveable on the street (not a daily driver)? I am guessing throttle response and acceleration will be improved and I won't care about low speed driveability.
I see Spec and Centerforce have lightweight options.

This was posted in another section of this forum, and he forgot to mention that his budget is more around the $500 mark...that narrows the choices down a lot right off the bat.
Yea, I didn't know how much traffic this forum gets so I posted in the transmission forum too.
It would be nice to only spend $500 on a clutch considering that I have some more items to purchase to get the car going, then put a cage in it, then get bigger wheels and tires, then better brakes...........it never ends.

McLeod makes a really sweet dual disc that is light and great holding power.
That is what I anm going to put in.

look up your last thread on this i responded to you with know reply. A 5.5/ 7.25tilton or quater master is the only way to fly. I can cure al the clutch issues anyone has.
Hey, thanks for all the replies. I ended up going with a standard Spec 3+. The aluminum option was another $200, but I passed on it. I figure this clutch will be a good start and maybe later on I'll step up to a lightweight muti disk set up.
