Default Just picked up my 2009 G8 GT!

I've been thinking about getting one since they came out and I saw the employee pricing so I decided to go down to the dealership yesterday. Long story short, I picked up my brand new 2009 G8 GT today. I had 5 miles on it at 3:00 when I picked it up today and when I parked it a little while ago it had 112 miles Loving it so far!

I bought the liquid red with the A6, sport package and 19" wheels.

My only problem is that it rained part of the day and I noticed condensation in the headlights. Anyone else have that problem? I'll call the dealership monday and make an appointment to have it fixed.

My brother took a bunch of pictures of it and he will post them up tomorrow.

As much as I'd love to run out and start throwing mods at it, it's my first ever new car and I'll probably enjoy it in stock form for a while. Also, this will allow me to go a little farther with my 2002 Z28. I do plan on taking the G8 to the track next month and to the dyno over the winter though.

Also, my brother drove my 1994 LT1 and we raced the two cars today. After a few runs it seemed like the G8 would pull a little over 1 car on the LT1 up to 90 mph and then it would start walking hard. I had about 4 cars on him by 110-120mph. Very nice I must say considering the low mileage.

Also, what octane gasoline do you guys use? The manual says 87 octane or higher. The dealership filled it with 87 and then I topped it off with 93 after the first 100 mile.

Thanks! I guess I can go with the 87 octane then until I get it tuned down the road. I figured that it was ok with the 87 since it's detuned from the 400 hp LS2.

What are the physical differences between the G8 6.0 and the LS2? I've been doing searches, but can't find any solid info.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about the headlights fogging up the first day I own the car. I'm definitely gonna have it checked out.

Thanks!

Congrats on the new ride. Did you buy it at Wallingford Buick/Pontiac? I live very close to there, and was actually looking at that car last week! Did they give you a good deal?

Yeah, I got it at Wallingford Buick. The sticker was $33,200, but with the employee pricing deal I got it for about $34,000 out the door (including tax/reg, etc). That's funny that you were looking at the same one. Now I'm glad I picked it up when I did

LOL, yeah, I'm not bashful about having fun with the car. That's what I bought it for

^Thanks a bunch, that's just what I was looking for!

Well, after my second day of ownership I can say that I LOVE this car! I washed it up today and waxed it and then pounded out another 100 miles for a total of 225 so far. Everything about this car is awesome, and I have no buyer's remorse whatsoever.

It only put a car on the LT1 up to 90 mph. After 90 mph the G8 pulls away HARD. I ran it yesterday and went 13.5 @ 102.9 mph. The LT1 ran 14.3 @ 97 mph.

Thanks Jim! Good job with your car! With a few more tweaks you'll hit 11's on the 100 shot! I would recommend getting it on a dyno at some point. Seems to me that you're down on power (110mph is probably around 340 rwhp at most). Once it's straightened out that car is gonna be lethal!

Congrats, you have a quick LT1. Most ran low 14s stock as the norm.

That red G8 looks great!
