Thumbs up Dyno results for ZR1

535 RWHP and rich from the factory. Tuning alone netted 570 RWHP bone stock!

700 RWHP with basic mods shouldn't be too far off...

Well GM said that the tuning was as safe as can be without the IAT getting to high. I would love to see one with an intake and pulley swap though, i want to hear that ****** scream like the cobras.

I read in one of the mags (I can't remeber if it was R&T or MT) that you can't really raise the boost that much without a bigger I/C and because it's right on top of the engine, it would have to stick out of the hood a little. That being said, I think 600rwhp or close to it is possible without more boost.

All they would have to do is put in a bigger heat exachanger. It's not an air to air intercooler

I want to see the dyno numbers for one that is actually fully broken in. Those numbers were put down with very low mileage cars so I'd venture to say there is a bit more on the stock ones. A pulley and supporting mods will make them silly I'm sure. I just hope the durability of the block and bottom end is as well sorted as the Cobra's were.

For 100K it better have a bottom end that can withstand a lot

Awesome news...

Unfortunately, I heard it was a high priority for GM in the blower's design that it make no noise or be as silent as possible. It won't be screaming like any Cobras for the time being.

What type of exhaust manifolds does the ZR1 have? Can you imagine the power with a smaller pulley, tune, and LG Long tubes on there.

Im not sure though there was a video on autoblog on a gm employee who took a ZR1 to an AutoX event. When the car comes off the line you hear the exhaust (awesome), but at the point its passing the camera it sounds like a slight whine. Not sure if it was the exhaust of the ZR1 and the other car on the track making that noise, or maybe it was a whine.
-Joel

**Ah, i found it and its definetly a whine coming from the ZR1.
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/v...-autocrossing/
Listen to the 10-12 second range, theres is definetly a whine there.

The noise issue is probably one reason they buried it under the intercooler.

The motor is definitely Roots blown, but it is not "screaming."

I would hate to have a s/c car and not hear it whine. I guess watching all those cobra vids has gotten me a bit spoiled, if i don't hear that bitch scream i will be extremely disappointed.

Yeah, I've got the TVS 1900 blower on my truck and it definitely doesn't scream like a twin screw. It does whines pretty good though. The 2300 is the same technology as the 1900 just bigger. It is also quieter than the previous generation eaton(MP112) that I had.

I wonder what sorta IATs they see on that ZR1 and what boost level is it at? I'm at 9psi on a new 6.0L and my IATs don't get over 115 degrees in 80 degree weather under boost. Cruising around the temps are actually in the 125 degree range and sitting in traffic I've seen them get up to 140 degrees. They fall pretty quick though once moving.

A friend of mine used to have a Harley Davidson F150, and he had a fully built motor with a Kenne Bell. When ever he would step on it i would have a grin from ear to ear. But i can see where some people who might buy the ZR1 don't want to hear that **** the entire time. But it would be so worth it!

OMG, I agree... But the majority of the pussies that are the "market" of ZR-1 buyers would be "pestered" by the ruffian nuisance from under the hood.
