Ram Air box question (yep....newbie here)
Ram Air box question (yep....newbie here) hey everyone!
i'm trying to find a ws9 hood for my 2000 and would like to make it functional if possible.
what would i need to do this? i'v seen different air boxs and "cold air" kits, so what's the difference?
Also, my car is the 3.8 v6, so i'm sure some things will be different. I'm new to these cars, so any help would be good. i've done alot more with 3rd gens, but this is only my 2nd 4th gen. i didn't really do to much with my last one, and would like to add somethings to this one. i definetly want the hood...it's killer. but since i've got all that extra air coming in, i want it to help out in some way...know what i mean.
any help would be appreciated.

i've been seeing a lot of people looking for just the "lower box" for the ws6 cars. why just the lower? is there an upper? my guess is the upper is just the lid...are there differences in lids? are there differences in the lower part?
T-twice: what's the "baffle"? that's probably a dumb question, but i'm not really sure what you're talking about.
with all that extra air coming in, i'd like to add a "ram air" box of some kind, but am unfamilar with the different kinds. stock ram air? cold air?

the baffeling in the hood is designed to keep water out of the air box. but most people remove them and drive in rain and never get a drop past the air filter.
The lower part of the airbox is different on the Ram Aim models. The gap between the radiator support is larger than the non Ram Air models. Thus allowing more air in. The lid itself is the same on both.
For the money you can probably get a better system over buying the stock box. Check the for sale section

ok please help. i just got a ram air hood for my 1998 trans am. its open and functional. now the guy at the hood place said to remove the top lid of my airbox to get more air in from the ram air hood, after i did this i noticed the air will go past the filter and directly into the air opening by the massa air flow sensor. so this means no filter? all the debris and water goes into the air sensor? i dont get it? please help me understand if this guy is right. thanks if anyone replies
