USAC LS3 Sprint Car Test 10-30-08
Just thought I would share this with everyone. Hopefully, we can get a LS3 into asphalt sprint car racing.

Enjoy,
Congrats on the development. I hope they get behind the idea.

We have one track that is honest about tech around here and they don't really seem to be into the crate motor thing. They have one class with crate motors and treat them more like unwanted step children than a feeder class for the faster cars.

Amazes me the lengths that people will go to for $500 and a trophy, they all spent several times that and ended up with nothing.
I like simple rules packages. Max carb flow, max primary size header with no steps and only 4into1 collectors with a max size, max cubes, max lift, and max compression. If you wanna get fancy, max intake port volume on the heads.
Let it read like this:
Max Displacement: 360 cubic inches
Max Carb: 650cfm (+/- 1%)
Max Cam Lift: .550 at the valve
Max Compression: 11:1
Max Header Primary: 1 3/4in OD no steps
Max Header Collector: 3in OD, No Tri-Y collectors, 4into1 only
The Fancy Head Rule: 200cc Max Intake Port Volume
Fancy Intake Rule: Cast Commercially Available Intakes Only
Fancy Bottom End Rule: Steel Rods Only, No Al or Ti
Make all of it as measured and absolute. Plenty of wiggle room for those who want to be fancy, but limited benefit to those who spend tons and tons of extra money. Simple rules increase participation, encourage sponsorship, and decrease costs. Low compression and low lift also lets engines live, which cuts costs way the hell down.

Now, to the sealed part. Although we do have sealed engines, we are going down a different path now. All we really want to see is the Gen 3 and 4 small block chevy's in cirlce track racing. Whether that be with a carb or not. We have packages for both. We are getting ready for a prompoters workshop and all we ant to do is get the engine package in the rule books.
We have an upbuild package for $2300 that you could put on a 5.3L and compete in any 2bbl class. The 6.0L could race in most of the 4bbl classes.
I think what happened with the GM crate engine has scared racing because of the cheating. But, that will never be controlled. How many other spec type engines do you know of that are 100% legal? Not very many. Now, what the crate engine has done is made it easier to police the engines because you know when something isn't right.
Anywho, I could go on with this forever.

No LS block is legal for anything circle track around here. They are just caught in the past and holding on for dear life.
