Default Firebird front plate cover

I bought one of the clear front covers. I went to put it on but did not like how it would show what I am sure will be the collection of crap that will collect on the bottom sill of the license plate hole. So, in an attempt to hide that to an extent I painted the edge of the cover black. This will also hide the screws.

I will post pics on the car this weekend.

I'm personally not a fan of those covers. I think if you need to show the plate, just leave it on the dash inside the car. But a friend of mine is looking for one of those but doesn't know where to buy it. Where did you get yours from?

$50 for the cover, can get blems for around $25 I think.

It will go on tomorrow weather permitting.

I would not have took my stock cover off, but it had a lot of stone chips. Very odd actually, when I bought the car the front nose had 5 stone chips I had to fix. The plate cover had over 10 on it alone! That contributed to the decision to just get a clear cover and be legal for once in Ohio. It is the first front plate I have ran in a long long time.

If you like the painted sides it would look even better the same color as the car. CETA yellow is not easy to get though, and with my graphics and black trim on the rear bumper I just decided black would work. Another thought would be to paint the inside of the clear cover the same color as the car, then put onto the car. No more chips!

Forget that. I've NEVER had a front plate on ANY F-body I've ever owned for the last 12 years and never have had any issues with cops and the front plate thing. *Knock on wood.*

I guess it's a pretty slick idea though painting the inside of the cover. Let us know how it works.

In VA you have to run the front plate or risk constantly getting pulled over. Then you risk the further examination of exhaust mods, window tint, etc. that comes on the side of the road. The clear cover at least keeps the profile of the car the same from the side. I had one on my 98TA for 3 years before getting the CETA so I'm used to it anyway. BTW I think most people get them from Afterthoughts.

i have 15 tickets for front plate. everytime i get pulled over cop asked if i am taking it off. i said "no" so i get ticket.

hell i'm paying to keep it on.

but the not clear one retails for 123 from a dealer. less if you got the hook up.

anyone need on i got a couple laying around.

OP-
did you get a chance to put it on?
I'm curious as to how it would look. NJ requires a front plate, but I don't think I could do that to my TA...

So you put the bird decal on the inside, then painted the inside too?

PICs, please.

Did not get it on the car. Cold and rainy... This week I promise.

It will not fit over the old cover, they are a direct replacement. Afterthoughts is where I got it.

No problems here. I've had looks before but honestly policeman don't seem to pick on nice cars where I live. Hell, I turned right out of a shopping center and gunned it, screeching my tires up and at the end of first (50 mph on a 45 road) I look at the car next to me and there's 2 hidden cops looking right back. They didn't do anything though.

I guess its where you live. There are so many pissed off ricers and rustangs weaving through traffic around here the police just go after them.

and a body color cover will look much better. Mine came with the car but I'm sure you can find one on ebay or at a sponsor's site.
