The bikes shots were perfect, the others were a lil too much IMO but they all looked pretty cool.

How's this HDR?? The sky is extremely dark. And there's halos in about every pic.

The bike shots are pretty decent though.

How is it HDR? Because multiple images with different exposures were combined to form one picture with HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE...

And yes, the pics take on much different dynamics from realistic to surreal depending on the choices made when combining them.

Don't think so.

Sounds like you've had a bad day, relax man....

And BTW, there are details in the combined image that would not be possible to capture with one exposure. Although this one is apparently 'darker' than a perfect picture that defines your existence, it does contain a larger dynamic range of information than a single exposure would have been able to provide.

Which program are you using to merge the images and tweak the output? I've been reading a nice book on HDR stuff, haven't had time to practice with it yet. Eventually I'll be doing some for the magazine articles.

With a histogram like that, I'm betting I could replicate those results in photoshop with one JPEG. It's pretty much an underexposed shot not HDR.

These last ones you posted are nice though.

HDR is a nice tool for the ocasional picture. Also when lighting is just now working it is helpful for filling in light missin from certin exposures. But damn if it hasn't be come the treadyest thing in the car photo groups. It kills me because it can be used to make an intresting shot really stand out like the dirty car pic above but then it gets over used like in the rest. HDR should not besed to improve a poor picture. Sorry but HRD is over used and its killing the art.

I am curious...

The shot of the NSX. Was it one shot and then the exposure was just changed to get three different exposures?
I notice a car on the left that would ghost (unless shop'd) if it were true HDR.

I do like the second batch. And the bike.
Others are overdone in my eyes. But I have heard that about some of mine as well...so...

The second picture in the first set of the bike is a perfect example of an HDR. As well as the second picture in the second set. Not overdone, but all the colors and shades are there.

All it takes is time and practice. Stay away from Photomatix unless you're looking for a "surreal" type of photo.

I was trying to figure that out as well...

It's all personal preference. I like the surreal looking photos but I do believe they can be overdone. Especially when you see a few that are posted by newbies to HDRs.
