Default 99z28 vs 03 cobra

my car = mods in sig

my buddies cobra = 03 cobra with a magnaflow catback and k/n

last night we were on our way to a friends house and we lined up next to each other at around 50 on ***. (wasnt paying too much attention to speed since i was busy counting it off)
i gave a 1..2..3 count since we didnt want to honk it off or just "go"

when we hit the three count i drop to 2nd and my buddy instantly gets 3/4 a car on me. i shift into 3rd when 6500rpm came around and i started to reel him in slowly. at the end of third im at his front fender and shift into 4th. once, i got into 4th gear... my car felt like it took some roids... i pulled a car length by the end of 4th and shifted into 5th. at this time, we are getting into the triple digits and im still pulling away. once i hit 130 i was maybe 2-3 cars ahead (hard to tell distance) and we shut it down.
we both lined up again and gave each other thumbs up and went to our buddies house.

this is actually my first real race so i was pretty pleased with the results.

thanks guys.
i love the cam. it is indeed a sleeper! i can barely tell i have it at idle. my car sounds identical next to my buddies ss with the same exhaust as mine.

i want to throw some 1.8 roller rockers on to get some more lift on it and maybe the rollers will quiet my engine down some.

So you don't have full exhaust? Also, when you're about to race you should already be in your power band. Don't drop it into the right gear on the 3rd count/honk, hence the 3/4 car length from the jump. Good kill though!

Remember to look at the ramp rates though. Go check out the internal section and see what they think about the rockers. I know alot say don't do it because of aggressive cam lobes, but I know nothing about your cam, so I can't tell you to do it or not too lol. Headers will really wake that car up man.

i have read a bit on rockers and since the lift on my cam is not incredibly high... im going to go with the 1.8's. with .555 of lift the 1.8's should bring me up to 588/589 intake/exhaust. the only thing i am not sure about it is if the rockers will increase my duration???

Oh I know the lift will change, and it still wont be too high. I don't think the duration changes any either. What I am saying is that with cam lobe designs, they open quickly depending on the lobe. If the lobes are already very aggressive, the rockers can increase the ramp rate. I am still new to cam design and whatnot as well, but from my understanding, aggressive lobes+rockers=no bueno. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in though.

hell yeah! i cant wait to hear and see how it feels!!!!!

ok first off is that .555 with 1.5RR's or 1.6RR's?

cause either way it would be much much higher than .588, you first take the lift and divide by whatever RR ratio you are using

for example, .555 lift with 1.5RR's is .555/1.5 then take that answer which happens to be .37 now multiply that by the new ratio 1.8x.37 and that yeilds .666 lift which is crazy high! and no the duration does not increase, well technically you get a degree or two more but its not the same equation and im not sure of how to do those.

why are you using 1.5??? stock rockers are 1.7 in ratio. my cam has .555/.556 in int/exh with the 1.7 ratio. 1.8 rr's would bring the lift up to .588/.589.

is that just for LS1's? cause i am almost positive the stock rocker ratio is 1.5.

otherwise getting 1.6RR's for guys would be downgrading. . . ?
