Default superchrged + twin turbos ????

hope i posted in the right spot

alright i came across this video and i wanted to know if this was possible and how it would even be set up cause i must admit it is interesting

what i want to know is how can a car be both turbo'd and super chrged i mean i always thught its one or the other. how can you do both do you just use the turbo to force air into the super charger or the other way around?

maybe some engineering guru's can help me answer my question here is the video link down below apparently this product or set up is made by a company named "Hellion's" unless thats the car owners last name or something

Detroit diesel has been doing this for years. It is not a new thing the 6v92 and 8v92 have a blower on the intake being fed by a turbo.

That is true, but they use the blower because it is a 2-stroke motor with reed valves. It would be pretty much impossible to get an intake charge past those reeds without the roots. The turbos on them is just a huge bonus.

And to the OP, it really isnt a great deal for automotive applications. A simple turbo only setup will provide plenty of useable power. But on a car like the cobra or lightning, which already has the roots and it is at its limit, adding the turbo setup gives you a power potential that is insane. This allows you to really intercool the main charge before the blower allowing alot more boost/timing. Though many feel that a simple blower upgrade to a big 2.8 or 3.3 whipple is way easier and more effective.

MINI guys have been doing this to. it does work, but you need to keep the intake to the SC pretty cool.

would love to see this done on a LS1.

have you seen this as an alternative?? (post 12)

so pretty much the turbos feed air into the super charger.... isn't there a risk of damaging the supercharger. i mean can you just get any super charger and slap a turbo to feed it more air or do you gotta mod the supercharger or get a certain one

and man who ever does this must have a ton of boost gauges

VW I believe has a European model car that is twin charged.
Said to have great gas mileage and very good performance.

Like said above, multistage compressors (Superchargers and turbochargers) have been in use for years, 1920's actually.
It analogous to people, and especially import enthusiast who think the overhead cam engine is some new innovation, 1919 is the actual date.
Do a little research, information is all over the place.

you can do whatever you want, doesnt make any difference what pieces you use. But assuming your using this on a standard 4-bolt LSx block youll be wasting an insane amount of money and alot of time for something that is capable of 2-3 times what the motor is. Dont get me wrong its awesome in the right application, but unless your planning 30+psi theres no point, either do one or the other

Nissan also has a twin-turboed 300zx. Seen videos of them running with cobra with a simple aftermarket intake and exhaust.
By intake I mean like a K&N system.

VW twin charger system uses the super charger at low rpm and the turbos at higher rpms.

i think the idea with having a turbo and a roots supercharger is the the supercharger gives the power down low to make up for the lag until the turbo is spooled. this is just my theory not a fact.
