Well Jeremy, i finally decided to lose the AC when i do my next engine, A BBC with a decent solid roller will idle OK, it is the retarded cams that idle crazy(track only). Solid roller isnt that bad. As for the block, i have friends running 2 bolt main 468s for track only cars, solid roller alcohol and nitrous. If that tells you how strong a stock BBC is.

I would still go with the mowtown block. Talk to them about your max displacement you can get. Have them install the rotating assembly and assemble from there. I am telling you with the money you are looking at spending its worth getting that small block that has the displacement of a bigblock. Make a 500 out of the block because its got some different geometry. The thing about it is it will bolt in the same location as any SBC and it is 120 lbs lighter with the BBC displacement. Its also good for 2000 hp.

So buy your AFR 23 degree heads get them fully massaged put some titanium retainers on her. Get a callies crank with some 6 inch h beam rods. Some forged pistons. Throw the twin turbo kit on there. There is a guy on Team Camaro that sells headers all the way to waste gates, blow off valves, controls, oil cooled turbos 100% setup for like 6 grand. I am sure he will gaurantee it will fit and since the Mowtown block is a SBC with BBC bore and displacement you can get away his turbo Kit i believe I am pretty sure the block takes SBC heads. Witht this set up you will be right at 20k but **** if you dont have an engine capable of 1500+ hp. I would get your cylinders ringed and put like 20+ psi in here on about 8 to 1 compression. Put a mild cam in here one that has a little lope but makes power around 2000 maybe a little higher because with that displacement your turbos will be spooling right arond when you are making power. Make sure your turbos are sized appropriately or you will overspin them and kiss them good bye. Rule of thumb is 180K-200K is to high for turbos but they make boost around 110K-120K usually.

Well, that is 300 more HP than it could do on pump gas NA. That thing should make 1300 HP on boost and 93 octane.

You have no clue what is inside that engine or how it was built for the customer. Maybe they should have consulted your engine building suggestions first, but then again they probably wanted the thing to last more than a week.

Nope, you can get 1300 HP out of that thing and have it last a while.

agreed. i mean people have gotten 1050 HP out of a 12* headed 555 on 91 octane, so a blown 540 should be making 1300 HP AT LEAST. People have squeezed damn near 1800HP out of a solid roller blown BBC on 93.

300 is really nothing to a BBC.

Stock 454 BBC with an off the shelf hyd. roller. Cast crank, rods, pistons(never freshened), untouched oval port heads, even ran the stock GM head bolts for a majority of the season. 300 shot plate right out of the hole: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1Xfa4r9rdo

I have run a 200 shot on a bone stock 91 305 for a year without problems, a big block that is built? Like spraying a 100 shot on a 350.

I was talking about overkill for what he wanted to do, all that power on the motor plus the 300 is going to be a lot harder on the motor then a blower motor. Yes a 300 shot out of the hole on a 2 bolt main stock crank and rods... no problem when it comes to parts.

There was a 472 ci small block i have seen, made 675 HP at the flywheel with a hyd roller, so mech and it would be over 700.

Im having my pump gas motor built right now. 632 Donovan Aluminum block, 24 degree heads and a hydralic roller. They told me they can get 1000hp out of it with a hydraulic roller and pump gas. I told him if it doesn't make 1000hp, the motor build is free.

Thats easy.

There is a local old HEMI pro stock motor that going to get twin turbo's. E-85 1,400 or so HP on low boost, pump gas drags thing...

E-85 is what you want reall, its still pump gas but like 108 octane.
