Default which ones: L92, LS9 or 6.0 head gaskets

What do you guys recommend. I know most everyone runs the 6.0 MLS gaskets, but now that the 5 layer L92 and 7 layer LS9 gaskets are out i was wondering if one of these would be better.

I have been following veee8's thread about the LS9 gaskets, but the bore size scares me a little bit.

any insight, recommendations is much appreciated.

My combo is a 370 iron block motor with L92's heads planning on running around 14 to 18 psi. BTW i am aware of the thinner deck height on the L92's, lol.

thanks in advance guys

only thing holding me back on the LS9 is the bore size being 4.100 vs my 4.030

well the ls9 motor is 4.06 and you are using l92 heads. so they are best in a 4.06 block.

Does anyone know the compressed thickness of the LS9 head gaskets? I went ahead and ordered the 5 layer 6.2 gaskets, but wouldn't mind knowing for future referance.

The only difference between the L92's and the LS9's is 5 and 7 layer, they are the same compressed thickness tough.
I think the 7 layers were developed to give more cushion to the higher cylinder pressures present with forced induction, ie. the ZR1. I would imagine if the 5 layers would have worked, why would they develop to 7's?
Probably not a whole lot different between the 2, but there must be a reason.

good info man. thanks a bunch, plus thanks for starting the thread about the ls9 gaskets to begin with. I was planning on doing the standard 6.0 until you posted the switching to ls9 thread.

LS9/L92 heads stock out flow most ported 317 heads. Plus they have a thicker deck. If the L92 heads where out when I did my build, I would have used them.

^ ^ ^ the l92 might have thicker deck(not as thick as afr) about the wall thick ness between the intake and exhaust ports is smaller then on the cathredral heads. then guys go and port them making the wall thickness even thinner.

i like and will keep my cathredral port heads. sorry to hijack.

Im swapping to L92 heads currently and Im looking at actually taking back my L92 head gaskets and swapping to the L76 Gaskets.

I have no idea on number of layers, but for my 6.0L I would rather have the 4.020" bore on the gasket and the .051" thickness, instead of a 4.080" bore and .055" thickness.

Its only .1 point of compression most likely, but Ill take it.
