Finally, it is finished (95%). Looks decent, need to clean the wiring up a bit but all in all she runs pretty good with not real tune yet.

LS1 was my want, but SBC is what i had laying around. It was a rather easy swap if you have the third gen radiator and serp system, but the stock **** can work, just need to get a GOOD electric WP and the correct hoses.

Its just a bonnet and filter. Nothing special. Bonnet was about $50 and airfilter came from advance auto parts.

Yea, i can only get about 8.7-8.8 in the 1/8th, the cam is WAY too big for these vortec heads and the intake if the gay *** performer with the shortys, killing the HP badly. But, i threw it together to ditch the opti and have a DD again besides my truck.

Going to sell this car though, i want another third gen for a DD.

I know this topic is old as hell but just thought I'd show a few completed carbed/sbc conversion pics. BTW motor was 357ci, eagle rotating assembly, AFR heads, .640 lift solid roller with Barry Grant 1000cfm Race demon carb with th350 tranny with a BTE 4800 converter

should have done motor plates... you would have been able to keep your wipers. my 95z has a 454 between the frame rails and the rear float bowl sits under the wiper cowl with a hole drilled in the plastic cowl trim to adjust float level. i will post pix soon.
