Ok, this is making me nuts I have an 01 z28. I have a couple of buddies with lsx equipped cars as well. They are a 99 ws6, a 00 ss, and an 06 gto. Now, what is making me crazy is the fact that some of these guys are still arguing with me that my car only made 310hp at the crank stock, like the ratings say and that the ls1 in the ss and the c5 are different than mine.
One more thing, is an ls2 gto that much faster than a stock f-body? My buddies car is quick no doubt, but I am just asking for personal knowledge. I don't know if I am faster, but I'm just sick and tired of people putting my z28 down and acting like it's the low man on the totem pole. IT MAKES ME NUTS YA'LL!!!!!

The car club I'm in had a dyno day last year. We had two 02 CETA TA's one a A4 and a M6. Both dyno'ed bone stock 280rwhp. So the 310hp is at the crank not the wheels. If you really want to know what your hp is go to a dyno. Its fun and addicting.
I have an 01 M6 SS, my friend has a 02 auto WS6 and my other friend has an 01 Z-28. All three of us run door to door so there really isn't a HP advantage, granted the 6-speed cars do a little better on the interstate but thats not due to more hp. Race them and see what happens, they'll shut up when you either run door to door or outrun them. As for the LS2 goat, don't know personally as I've never raced on but they do have more HP than an F-body. LS2 vs. LS1
I also have a z28, but I have ran some SS and ran door to door with them or got them just a little. The LS2 does have more power, but they are pigs. Also the SS nad the WS6 have a higher (hp) I think becuse or their hood.

On a dyno I do agree, most LS1's will dyno very similar, if not the same.
I'm not familiar with SS hoods in regards to "ram air". I know on my WS.6 if you look through the scoops there is just a giant hole that leads right to front of the air box,
but I don't know how the ss scoop works.

If your buddie's cars and your car are all bone stock, I would put my money on your 01 Z winning in a race. It gets pretty annoying when people assume a ss or ws6 is automatically faster because of the minimally higher factory hp ratings. It usually goes like this, " yeah Z28's are pretty fast, but it's no SS or ws6". Ls2 gto's run very similar times to 4th gen f-bodies providing gto guy can drive. It may have 400hp, but it's a bit tougher to hook with 17" 245 width tires and IRS, not to mention it weighs 3800ish.
You got some tools for friends.

A WS6 with the baffles removed may have a slight advantage but nothing being a bit better driver wouldnt take care of. A Z28 may not resell for quite as much as an SS but in a race they are the same car with the same engine same transmissions and are available with the same rear ends.
LS2 GTOs have more power than the stock F-body but more weight at the same time, ive never had a GTO give me a good race, I do remeber running a stock looking 6.0 when I had a lid and catback and he had no chance.

I like that up there with the corvette and firebird dyno. The only thing the vettes have on us is weight. I am gonna race the gto as soon as I get the chance, and I am gonna surprise him, that I am almost sure of I have a few minor bolt-ons, so we should be dead even or close enough to it.
We'll just have to see what happens when I race them. I will get vids so there is no bull. If i get beat, so what. But if I win, someone is gonna have to eat some words.
