I am doing a heads and cam LS1 and T56 in a '99 Mustang GT I just got. Curious if anyone has ever done it on one this body style, as I have lots of questions! Let me know guys.

LOL 2v 4.6 motors are boat anchors. And I'll bet a used ls1 costs less than a used 2v 4.6.

Also its not any more retarted than any other swap. All takes custom stuff to get done.

I guess what I am wondering is I am going to make this a street car with a/c and all factory guages, is that possible with the digital odometer and the cluster having its own module.

That might be a problem, in 96+ Mustangs, the PCM runs some or most of the gauges and drives the digital odo. Might be able to send the proper signals from the LS1 PCM to the Mustang cluster with a little help from EFILive, I think the VSS signals are very similar.

You could also try to swap a 1994 or so cluster in and do a more conventional stand alone LS1 install, since the older Mustang clusters are something like you'd expect in a C\K truck, they have a VSS driven speedo and regular gauges with regular senders.

Then again, I try to stay as far away from the mod motor era 'stangs as possible, so I'm not much more help than that.

wouldn't an 03-04 cobra motor be an easier swap? (even tho the ls1 would be cooler)

Its easier than you think. My LSx is just a hair larger than the V6 it replaced. Use autometer guages, you can get a drop in dash cluster/pod that makes it look factory. The swap is very easy.

Thanks 6.0Nova and Phil, I definately will either go with an older cluster or an Autometer Setup. Wow I didn't know they had such a thing. You guys are awesome!

Nicely put my good sir!

Next question is how do you get a T56 to hold up to power? I've blown up quite a few in my day, even with steel shift forks and kevlar synchros, and a spec 3 clutch. I want manual for sure.

How? Between me and my buddies I'd say we've blown up 15 or more in the last 4 years.

I'm going to use the EEC-V to run the LS. The sensors are all figured out. Time for some minor fabrication...
