Need to find out if my motor is a 2006 6.0 Please help
Any help would be great.
If you cant find it, it will have aluminum heads, an iron block with 6.0 cast into it on the front, and a DBW throttle body. I know those are characteristics all common to 02-later 6.0L blocks.

My 05 out of a Hummer has that plug and it's not open. My engine is definately an LQ4...
Keep in mind, If it came out of an 06 Vehical it is possible that it may have a Late 05 casting date. I believe around September or so Is when they start assembling orders for the following year.

That's actually what I stated in my first post. The location of it is what I couldn't remember.
LQ9 = flatop pistons
LQ4 = dished

Good info. I never heard that broken down before.

The only numbers on the back of the Block Are the Casting numbers and the Engine size. There is also a Foundry Identification mark on the back.
As far as Iron 6.0L engines go. 99 and 2000 had Iron heads with an 873 casting. In 2001 They started using aluminum casting 317 and 035 Heads. All Iron engines from 99-2002 were cabale actuated. In 2003 they started using electronic DBW set ups.
How ever there is ocasionally an exception to the rule and comercial vehicals often follow different production time lines. I have seen an 03 3500 comercial use work truck that was equipped with a cable actuated Throtle body. That maybe a case were GM was useing up inventory in In 1ton applicatioins that were to be used for comercial applications.
