i thought maybe if the new Camaro proved popular, we'd see a new Trans Am in a couple years, but not if there's no Pontiac. All the more reason for us Firebird and T/A owners to keep our cars.

This is perhaps one of the darkest days of my life.

Years ago I remember driving past a car dealership and seeing all these cool cars that looked so futuristic...the fiero, the trans sport and the firebird and seeing the sign that said PONTIAC in bold red letters. Thinking then how cool a name like that was. I don't know if it was because Pontiac started with the letter P like my name did or what but something spoke to me everytime we would pass that PONTIAC dealership. It told me that if you want to stand apart from the rest, you have to be PONTIAC. So that is what I strived for. My first new car I bought was a 99 Trans Am in 1999 and there was no going back after that. Soon the 99 was not enought and I got my dream LS1, the CETA. Then at the Autoshow in 2002 they revealed the Solstice Roadster and Coupe concepts and once again, I fell in love with PONTIAC, knowing one day I would have a Solstice too. Come 2009, ten years after I bought my first and now on my 3rd Brand New-out of the showroom PONTIAC with getting my Solstice and the dark day dawns....GM announces they are taking away the ONLY American car brand I have EVER identified with my whole life. The brand that always stood for innovation and performance and looks is now no more than a page in automotive history. There will be no future PONTIACS for me to buy.
Why GM did you make such a bad decision?

I will miss you PONTIAC, my dear friend.

PONTIAC

Well said Banditcar. Pontiac really did have the best models and I love that you included the Trans Sport minivan. Even it was extremely different and modern and my first ever minivan purchase in 1995. It was my DD for many years until I finally traded it in for a new Chevy Venture (boring) in '04. I also bought my first Formula in 1996 and I had so many examples to choose from. The models in the dealers' lots were indeed 'exciting'. Somehow Pontiac lost it's way and was pushing Oprah cars (G6) just a few years ago. The GTO was fine but that was about it until the Solstice. Just not much to choose from and the excitement division of GM now is history. My T/A would be the last car I ever sell. I have had F-bodies in my blood for 13 years now and I can't imagine being without one. A very special and different car in my opinion.

truly does suck but hey for all you T/A owners at least you dont have to worry about something new coming out so your car gets officially outdated... now you are the last of your kind. as much as i love the new camaro it kinda sucks that my 02 camaro is now not the last one....now theres something better. but anyways ... sounds like the government and all those ******* liberal democrats are trying everything in their power to do away with muscle cars which is a true american heritage. how bout we stop importing shitty *** imports and support our countries automakers and just all buy american!

The govt better be ready to pick up some more unemployed then. This is going to mean thousands of jobs to add to whoever else GM is going to let go; Buick, Hummer, etc...
I was thinking of selling my 01 WS6 next month to pick up a C6 Z06 in a 3 years, but am starting to think against it now

I just don't understand this.....
I thought it was bad a while back, when they phased out Oldsmobile! Cutlass Supreme, 442, 88's, etc....
BUT THIS is just F-up!!!!
All this going green and environment friendly crap,....this world has been void plenty of times and its not due to muscle cars!! Its a natural process. This(hybrid car crap) is a bunch of bullshit, and full of gimmicks.

What pisses me off the most is that Pontiac was #3 in sales last year out of all the GM brands..

Chevrolet-------1,801,131
GMC------------376,996
Pontiac---------267,348
Saturn----------188,004
Cadillac---------161,159
Buick-----------137,197
Hummer---------27,485
Saab------------21,368

Outselling Buick by nearly double the amount of cars sold, yet Buick gets to stick around because the Chinese eat them up. In fact, Pontiac outsold Buick, Hummer, and Saab combined. If you guys are going to blame anyone, blame GM. It's not the governments fault that GM has mismanaged itself into near bankruptcy to the point of having to beg for handouts from the government/treasury. I'd rather them just file for Chapter 11 than pull this b/s.

This is a pathetic move, and I have lost all respect for GM. When the time comes that I decide to buy a new car, I'm going to Ford. I'll still buy used GM cars off the classifieds, but I'll never go to a dealer for a new one.
