Default Which y-merge? Magnaflow or Flowmaster?

I just added Pacesetter headers and off-road y-pipe. Now I want to have a y-merge welded in the y-pipe and I can't decide which one I want, the Magnaflow 3"-3" or the Flowmaster 3"-3.5".

I figure the Magnaflow will be easier to install since it's just 3" out. Plus I already have a 3" cutout sitting around. Does anyone here have any experience with the Magnaflow merge? Does it sound decent?

I've heard some good things about the Flowmaster merge, but it's a 3" in and 3.5" out. I'd want to buy a new 3.5" cutout to keep from choking it, plus have a reducer put in to connect to the i-pipe.

What do you think? Is it worth it to pay the extra for the Flowmaster? Or will they both give me about the same gain and sound? My only modifications are in my signature.

If someone has used both I'd like to know if there is a sound difference or performance difference. Thanks.

I voted flowmaster because the merge is smoother, and it is much less wide than the magnaflow. The magnaflow is like 8 or 9 inches wide, and we all know there isn't much extra room under our cars.

Flowmaster here as well, removed all the rasp and gave my maganflow a deeper, healthier tone.

Agree. That's why I run the Flowmaster.

If you already have a 3" cutout just go ahead and get the magnaflow. I don't think by going with the flowmaster you are going to gain much more power over the magnaflow... maybe 3hp??..just a guess. If you go with the flowmaster, then you gotta try to sell your cutout and buy another.

The Flowmaster is both a better merge and is smaller. Why would you get the Magnaflow? It'll be harder to fit and it won't work as well. The Flowmaster is the only way to go between the two options.

not much horsepower as the overall sound that the merge puts, my 3x4 flowmaster dam near cut out all of my rasp and sounded great!

Is that a muffler welded in behind your merge and before your cutout? If so, how did that affect the sound with the cutout open? I have been considering having a muffler welded in to quiet it down a little for cruises with my wife and things like that, but I don't want it too quiet when I open the cutout. I've been trying to figure out how to fit in a cutout and an in-line muffler, but I was picturing it as being the merge, then the cutout, then the muffler, but now I'm wondering about your set-up.

A Burns Y is nicer but expensive - so for the money the flowmaster is a good piece
