Default Looking for a good shift kit

Want something that most any transmission shop can put in that will give me nice positive shifts without messing anything up. One where the trans wouldn't need to be removed. Any suggestions and where to get?

The TransGo HD2 is generally regarded as the best for our 4L60e transmissions. Just make sure the shop you take it to is familiar with the kit. A good install makes the shifting superb, a poor one, not so good.

On the 60 it does need to be dropped down (not removed) to get to one of the accumulators. The springs, etc come out of the right side. It also has some springs that are replaced if the trans is apart but is not necessary and alot of people skip that one. If you do skip that step just hold on to the springs for if a rebuild is necessary in the future (which it probably will be with a 60. lol)

Can most all the good stuff be done without dropping it? If not I will wait until it pukes.

I am pretty sure you just drop the pan and remove the valve body, which I DON'T recommend. I let someone else do that and I went with the Trans Go as well.

All you have to do to drop the trans enough to get to the outside accumulator is remove the trans crossmember so the trans can come down some. I would support the trans with a jack while doing so though.

How hard are your shifts with a converter and where did you get your kits?

You can either buy the kit online or contact the sponsors, they should have them in stock for you. IDK how to describe the shifts with my stall, I'd just say that they are firm, very firm, not hard. It's good to firm up the shifts, just so you know. It's easier on transmission, i've read that before.

When I had my 60 with the transgo shift kit and a Fuddle 4k stall, it was a much firmer shift without being annoying in everyday use. It would chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift at WOT when I was just bolt-ons with 2.73 rear.

The shops I have called won't install one. They said shifts are an issue after putting a kit in. Anyone get weird shifts with this?

Don't know about the weird shifts. Maybe you shouldn't go back to that shop.
Transgo HD2 (fully installed, skipped nothing) TCI3000 3.23. I put 1 spacer in the 1-2 accumulator. It will bark at WOT on the 1-2.

Unless it's the pinless accumulators or the checkvalve I wouldn't consider Sonnax. The Transgo will fix the same issues and you'll have more support for it here. Summit has it on sale right now btw
