Car lasted 4 years at 600rwhp with 150 shot and tr6's

motor was hurt with 200 shot and 6 plug a/f was lean but only got above 13/1 for split second. So I think the cyl temps were just to hot with that plug.

It did make 686 rwhp at about 5500 rpm on the pass when the plugs were melted. Not to shaby

Not knocking anyone but just got to compare apples to apples. Set that thing up for 200 and let it eat. I know this one guy with this slow white LT1 T/A that sprays 200 and it runs ok.

Do you have a wideband in the car?

Not yet, did you ever get yours straightened out from last Nov.1 when something was up and you didn't want to spray?

This slow white LT1 TA, whats he running besides spraying the 200 shot. And don't think I won't take a shot at it at the end of the year. Maybe you and I can line them up? You just need to keep yours at a decent level to give me a chance. How about me (200) and you a (35) seeeing you have the almighty LS. You game?

Chased is running a pretty basic 355 I believe (forged pistons I assume). I think running a 200 shot would take some serious ***** on a stock LT1 short block, and I would love to see it. With as lucky as you have been Rick with your stock rearend, you may just be able to pull it off.

If I do hit it with a 200 shot it will be a 150 off the line and another 50 starting with 2nd gear to help ease the shock. This will be when it's time to put the car away for the winter.

How long did larry spray 175 shot on his stock shortblock black Z. I think it was for 3-4 years. I think he went 10.60's back in the day. Stock shortblock heads/cam 175 shot.

People can get these old school LT1's to run pretty good.

Z rated I had a bad maf last year. Car was running real fat N/A. In the high 10's A/F. I got a new maf and all is good.

Car is slow this year. It has a boost motor in it. 9.8 to 1 comp.
Changed setup to get ready for a turbo hopefully over winter.

Car used to run 11.1 N/A with old motor
With boost motor it ran 12.1 N/A
I have only sprayed a 100 shot and it went 10.93

I think that I need spots

If you have the fuel and timing/plugs I think it will last. Tr7 or Tr8 plug. Pull at least 12-14 degrees of timming. Get a wideband and dial it in.

Good luck with everything. Damn good times for a stock shortblock LT1.

Yeah that lucky bastard has forged pistons and thats it in his 355...He's been pushing that motor hard for years and it just keeps taking it.

He beat my slow *** at the LTx shootout...he's car runs really good...

What's with you and your brother? I get a little lucky and your talking a few spots and he wants the hit. Your present motor and mine NA would be neck and neck. His on motor and mine on spray would be a close race too.
I have a few bucks and would like to get some Strange shocks for the front. but I'm thinking a LM-1 for the A/F readings might be money better spent. Rick

200 shot with forged pistons shouldn't be a problem at all as long as the tune is right. Correct timing and correct plugs.

Do you have the level 4 in the car now? What's the problem with the trans? Maybe you need a stocker? Get it fixed and set-up to spray and we'll get some guys together and hit the track when the air is decent.

Where's the fun in playing it safe (forged pistons)? The plan is a mild build with forged rods and pistons that can handle a good size shot (2 stage) once this motor expires.

I luckily already have forged pistons and rods. Now I just need to save up money to spray it. My car should run what yours does N/A in good weather. So seeing that it only took you a 130 shot to get into the 10s makes me wonder what a 200 shot would do.

175-200 with the tune will be fine

I did beat my stock H/C motor back in the day with a dry kit @ 175.

What rods and pistons if you don't mind me asking. Oh and I need to update my sig. It's probably more like a 140 shot now.

Mahle for the pistons and Scat rods. Nothing high dollar. I plan on running Nitro Dave's plate kit as well. I'll probably be bugging you for tune advice then.

No its a Dr. Evil trans that will not shift into 3 on spray. Shifts fine NA but with the kid on the way this month most of my funds are going towards that but I'm trying to find a cheaper way to get the car back out this fall until I can get the Level 4 in.

Working on some free weight mods now to offset the bar I just put in last week. Already fried one Dremel.

Try upping the line pressure just a little. Overfill it by a half quart. Start out in drive when you launch and once it shifts to 2nd gear put the selector in overdrive for the 2-3 shift. More line pressure that way.
