Ive was thinking this weekend why not just start with a Z28? The swap is done, I can gut it, add a cage, mod the front spindles, get a new PS pump like yours, seat n belts, and it'll take a 315 rear tyre. Not to mention you can get a decent runner for $6K and make some $ back on all the HVAC and interior. Hmmmmm. Hit me up on those wing mounts/stands. It wont be baller expensive like you may think plus I need cash to finish my *cough*civic*cough*

Yeah, Z28 is not a bad idea. Need to stiffen up the suspension also to keep it level. Weight is the obvious disadvantage but who cares unless you're doing serious competition. Steering angle might suck but not sure.

I will not support the finishing of any civic... lol.

Haha, but yeah let's do the wing stands. I'll take the measurements for the bolt holes on the bases and measure the uprights on Sunday and PM you. What sucks is that the pre-drilled bolt holes on the original fiberglass stands were not "square" at all so the holes are like all over the place... ugh. Would probably be best to drill properly spaced holes in the billet stands and then drill new matching holes in the hatch.

I'm having some issues with the fiberglass supports riveted to the wing cracking. That's the new weak spot now that the uprights are steel. I was going to put a cross brace on the uprights to keep it from flexing side-to-side and cracking the wing supports. But maybe it's possible to CNC the supports? Like if I make a clay mold of the bottom contour of the wing where the supports need to be riveted, would it be possible to scan that in and CNC billet supports?

I'll post some pics of what I'm talking about over the weekend, kind of hard to explain with just description.

Yea it would be heavier for sure, but to get a good car to learn and have fun it I think it'd be ok. Even though it'd be heavier I'd think that having a 315 tyre compared to most people in 240's and such running 255's would kinda even it back out a little bit. Ive done the math and drawn all the steering geometry and I can take it from ~23 degrees it is not out to 35 degrees without really messing it up to much.

The civic was my cheap daily beater that got 45mpg...now its turning into an HPDE/drag car cuz I cant afford a 9" for the camaro. I sold a ton of crap from the civic to pay for the new 2.2L swap. I'll come out of pocket about $350 total and can take it to the track every friday night with no worries other than my autozone lifetime warranty axles.

Anyway, Im not really following you on the support thing. How does the wing mount to the stands? Im assuming there is a fiberglass piece molded into the wing that acts as a mount and that is what you want to brace? I'll go look at the pictures some more. Yes I have a Faro arm to scan anything into a file.

Problem with 315s is the price. 255/265 is still relatively affordable.

How fast will the civic run? lol.

I'll post pics of the wing situation this weekend.

Is Rated D a 240 group or something or did it just turn out that way?

That video was hot! Loved that last shot where you were leading and 3 cars were at opposite angles. That vert jdm front is sexy.

Good call on the 315's, they arent to bad with the Sumitomo's at $99 each but its definately hard to find used ones.

Civic should do high 12's on motor and low 11's on bottle. I dream of it hitting 10's on a 200 shot but low 11's is fine. Tons of fun for about $4K. I tried to trade my SS for an RB25 S14 yesterday...guy wanted to do it but didnt have any cash, woulda been nice to get a good drift car and loose a car payment but oh well.

RB25 sounds nice until you break something and have to search japland for parts... lol. Power out the A though. That's what my friend Geoff in the black S14 has in the vid... 430 whp.

Civic would beat me.

Didn't get to work on anything this weekend. Basically did east coast bash saturday and then partied for the next 24 hours? Got home around 8pm on Sunday... We even tried to drag race at e-town on Sunday... was hilarious. I actually passed tech but they turned me away at the line because I had no windows and no window net... retarded... like I'm going to run 8s or something.

Do you have any plans for the window in the near future?

I'll put gutted metal doors with windows back in the car if I screw up the fg ones... or maybe get legit carbon fiber doors that can actually hold windows if I have the money.

For now, I'm thinking of putting in a window net just for kicks. This car needs more NASCAR... lol.

The good thing about the drag racing is that I was able to get the car on a scale. And it came in at a whopping 2550... DOH! This was probably with 1/2 - 3/4 tank of gas. So yeah, I have no idea where this weight is coming from... I guess combination of baller wheels, overkill cage, all the accusump/remote filter crap? There's really like nothing else in the car that's excessive. Definitely have some ideas for slimming it down, but kind of long term projects.

Idk man that's pretty light considering your cage prolly wheighs as much as all the interior. The hatch's wheigh 2700 stock? I'd imagine the T56 added a little wheight compared to the stock tranny too. Lol they flip out at the track if you roll the window down just a little bit.
