Default heh...

You think thats funny wait till you see the pictures of the two burnt spark plug wires I took off after the 10.80 friday night. That explains why it was rich, half of the spark was grounding through the headers. The 5 and 7 plugs looked like they were barely firing!!!! 10.80 @ 128 on 6 cylinders? Now I'm the quickest NA import on LS1Tech lol.

Well I fixed the wires and went back to the dyno. I ended up leaving with 463rwhp on that same dyno, which also was acting odd with the power numbers, but thats besides the point. Plus, the previous 449 rwhp was with hard low profile street tires and this 463rwhp was with the soft wall slicks at 20psi. So that was prob about a 15-20 rwhp loss right there from the last time I was on the dyno. Still 463rwhp on a Land and Sea dyno with the brake jacked up, I'm happy! Chevy fest this weekend at NED and then the Dynojet for a real number!

Will I be at chevy fest? I will absolutly be at chevy fest if the weather is good I will be there friday night, saturday, and sunday! It's time to actually go to the track with over 450 rwhp on tap! It seems like everytime I tune the car and make power something happens by the time I get to the track!

That is a great combo you have there! You will see the car run significantly quicker/faster with your continued fine tweaks Great job!!

I was planning on going both days but I had a radiator hose blow on the 540 so I'm going to be tearing that apart and doing all of the hoses this weekend as well as engine mounts.

Good luck guys! I'll see you next time we get a good Wed or Fri night.

Nice numbers. Its interesting to see that the peek power is so high up in the RPM band.

A better converter would probably help, but its hard to say how much with the 4l60e's low first gear.

What kind of 60fts were you cutting, and what is the weight of the car?

The 10.80 128 run I cut like a 1.60 I think, I was launching it easy because the traction wasn't that great later that night. The car was 3525 with me in it that same night too. I'm going up tomorrow with it and I'm pretty sure I got all of the problems covered this time. After this weekend I'm gonna have to buy new tires, I'm thinking 29's with 4.88's out back for a new combo, that should put me at about 7700 rpm @134mph, could work good.

Default whoops!!!

Well went to Chevy Fest at NED on sunday and ran into a problem...AGAIN!!
My radiator cap wasn't working right for a while so I had no pressure in my coolant system, which never allowed me to notice the head gasket that was going bad. I put a new cap on it sunday morning at the track started the car up and drove it over to tech. Apparently as the pressure began to build in the cooling system the head gasket finally decided to let go. When I fired the car up it was puffing white steam out the drivers side header and when I opened the radiator cap I could see bubbles comming from the return line from the back of the heads; not a good thing. So I'm hoping its just a bad head gasket and not something like a crack in the block from a head bolt hole into the cylinder wall. I'm 99% sure its just a gasket. One way or another it will be fixed in a couple of weeks. So now a call to cometic instead of fel-pro this time and a lot of swearing trying to get the damn heads off while the motors in the car. But on a better note thinner gaskets will yeild me more compression. So next time the car sees the track it will have 13.91:1CR with 29x10.5 Hoosiers and 4.88's!!!
It's time to start taking some cars down!!!!!!!

Default torque!!

It will be mint with the 29's, the motor makes stupid amounts of torque at like 4500 which is right to where the converter flashes when I mash it from like 2000 on the brake, plus the 29's with the 4.88's will keep me in my 1200rpm power band all the way down the track. The problem now is I shift 1-2 at 7800 and i fall to 6200 and I shift 2-3 at almost 8000 and fall to 6000. Thats just to far out of my power band to fall on a shift, I make consistent power (within 5 rwhp) from 6500-7700 so if I can keep the motor buzzing in that area this car will be orbiting the moon! Also I have a five disk lockup which I'm going to use on the high end with the 4.88's so it will be like having a four speed automatic with fourth gear being one to one. According to my math factoring in the slippage of the converter (about 9% @WOT at high rpm), the car should do 125-126 mph at 7800 unlocked in third gear and with the converter locked the car will do 137 at 8000. That should hopefully put me crossing the traps somewhere at about 7700-7900 rpm with the converter locked up. Hoping for good results, but for now I need to figure out how to get the heads back on this car with the new head studs while the motors in the car, damn camaro cowels lol.
