This thread shouldn't be deleted unless you start talking about taking orders. 6LE started out by making threads like this and now he's one of the most active sponsors on the site.

Would you be able to wrap a Hurst Sidewinder **** (the one with the button) in black leather? I want it to look stock besides the button - I think it would look great. Seems like the hard part would be cutting the hole for the button.

I think a Steering Wheel Recovering program would sell, at the right price.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

I plan on taking the camaro out tonight, I'll try to remember to grab a pic.

I'll have to look into making the wheel thicker... I'm sure its possible with some thinking.

There is a company that does that for Saab wheels, hence the link to the pic I put up. They take the factory wheels and do something to make them thicker and have the thumb inserts at 9 and 3.

This is what my factory wheel looks like in my Saab 9-3 and it is so comfortable to drive. If I could get the airbag and radio controls to work in my T/A I'd be buying one right now.

I would be interested if you could make the wheel thicker.

Let me check the price on suede, but I have a feeling if the suede is in a heavily touched area it may begin to look bad... I'm not sure.

I've been trying to find a new vendor for leather and supplies, let me see what I can come up with.

As far as making the wheel thicker, I'll have to do some experimenting on that one, and a little research...

Some alcantara suede inserts like this would be awesome with a thicker wheel.

I'm drooling just thinking about having a wheel like this...

This is what I want to have done.

Somehow, they take a plane, round wheel, and add the thumb and finger inserts and make the wheel a little thicker as well. They charge $395, but to me, it's worth it considering your hand is touching it the entire time you drive.

something that small shouldn't be a problem... I'll have to find some gel inserts or foam rubber and do some experimenting...

but making an overall thicker wheel could be tricky, but I have a few ideas...

You're definitely going to want to use Alcantara instead of regular suede. That's what Lamborghini uses on their Gallardo Superleggera and their race cars, so it definitely stands up to the abuse.

If you're going to be making a small business out of this, you're going to need to show step-by-step real photographed instructions to show how to remove the steering wheel (both the '93-'02 non-audio button one AND the '97-'02 audio button one). Someone like me wouldn't do it, for fear of the airbag going off, without really detailed instructions. And I'd say 60 to 80% of your target market for this business is the person who isn't a do-it-yourselfer who would normally know how to do this.

[/good business advice]
