if you don't want nitrous, then forced induction is your best bet IMO.

Why don't you provide some useful info, instead of trolling around posting Fail everywhere, assneck. I never said nitrous specifically. A lsx427 or 454 na should get the job done, the 150 shot was stated for extra measure. I seen the op does not want spray, but hey it's a cheap way to hand someone thier *** lol. the guy prolly has a power adder on his fox body to make it fast anyways, most do.

build a LS3 stroker = poor mans 427 stroker. Should be good for low 10's NA with a stick set up right. You need to know more about the 460. It could be junk or a beast. I think it's gotta be worth putting it in the car so I'm leaning towards a beast.

this would be a good start

f.i. is the way. Just build it to take a healthy amount of boost. Run him on low boost and if he beats you....more boost. Just makes it easier...not cheaper though.

If you want to run all motor you can go 454 LSx, or with a little more money you could do a 496 Warhawk or a 500ci ERL block. With the last 2 you will have to run a intake spacer because they have taller than standard decks and you also will probably need custom headers. But check out the dyno section theres a 496 car in there that looks stealth.

You could do a 440 or 454 with a stroked LS7. You can pretty much run any ls block in your car without much modification to the car, maybe just modifying the motor mounts for the tall deck engines.

Think you could find another section to post in? The same thread posted 4 times in one day is a little excessive..

So before we can answer you question, what kind of budget are you looking at for this project "dream motor LS7 in a LT1"..

That's what I asked earlier as well!! Sounds more like someone that WANTS big power, but has no green to spend. We are all like that to an extent. So, op, just answer the questions and then we can give proper advise.

Look man, we can't give you any kind of definitive answer without knowing your budget and without knowing how that Mustang runs.

I would put my money on it that your friends Ford 460 powered car is still a slow *** piece of *beep*.

Without real info on the guys car and what it really has done to the engine....or track times...its anyones guess.

A stock LS1 might be able to beat it with bolt-ons. Or you might be dealing with a 650 RWHP N/A set-up.

All anyone here can really say is: Go build a 98mm single turbo 408ci LSX iron block and be sure you smoke him no matter what he has under the hood.

A better question would be: how can I build the best engine for my budget?

So....why not at least tell us EXACTLY how much money you have to spend?

.

No one here can help you until you have goals.... IE what are you up against? Saying that he has a 460 in a foxbody doesnt mean anything. It could be a 13 second car or an 8 second car. Are you going to roll race this guy or drag him? Also we NEED to know a budget. If you have money to spend you could build a 427 pushing 1000hp N/A. If you are on a budget an Iron 408 is usually the budget favorite.

A fox is very light and without knowing what is done to the BBF you are flying blind until you know what you are up against. I have a mud race a truck with a 572 BBC that has dart heads pulling a little over 1000hp. I run against some trucks that has BBF engines and they have potential. Typically, there are about 50 to 100 hp below my engine. It is like any other engine, it just depends on the parts. His motor on pump gas, could be anywhere from 450fwhp to 800fwhp. You have to know what you are dealing with before you go after him. If you can find out what heads are on it, I can give you a general idea about what you are up against. Without knowing what he has, it's a guessing game.
