How does this book compare to " How to Rebuild GM LS-Series Engines" by Cartech. I ask because I just got the above book and am curious if yours will cover any special tricks or how-to's that I need to know for my H/C swap that the above does not cover,
Thanks

CranMaro; The F-body "guidebook" isn't to be viewed as a "how-to" book such as the LS-engine book, rather that one is more of an informational book helping to decide which parts are needed, for which application and when required. It will mainly cover engine externals such as bolt-ons, but really cover the entire chassis, things like torque converter selection, header choices, gear ratios and rear-ends. It basically lines out a path for each area of the car for the differing types of racing the user is performing.

LilJay; No flycutting pics, I wanted to include it but just didn't have room. The stock LS shortblock mechanical procedures I lined out are mainly what deviate from the aftermarket parts typically used in a buildup - such as piston and connecting rod information as differing from pistons/rods such as Wiseco and Callies. The PtoV, cylinder head torquing, camshaft degreeing and pushrod length/lifter preload are all included though.

Mark; I don't know if they plan on an electronic version, it would be nice, but I'm sure copyright protection is harder to police at that level. I think amazon.com would put it in kindle if they get enough requests for it.

Titan; I'm not sure how it compares to Chris Werner's LS book, judging by his GMHTP engine articles I would say its probably pretty well written. I meant to pick up his book and Chris Endres's (my editor) book for last minute ideas before turning in mine, but never had a chance. Mine is mainly based on firsthand shop experience (~10 years worth of LS engines, and ~16 total years working on cars/engines), with additional pertinent information as necessary for certain problem areas...cough...-oil pump o-ring-...cough...

Thanks for the congrats and feedback.

Its only available to ship right "now" from Motorbooks, which is the first link above. I'm sure some sponsors will have it, probably about the same time Amazon.com starts shipping it. I believe I will be able to have it available through TSP and SDPC if possible, I will update the post if/when that happens.

I think they use the "promo code" for car clubs. I will ask and see though, maybe I can get them to discount it for xmas or something...

Cool! Let me know what you think.

Also if the guys who order from Amazon could write up a short 1-2 sentence review when it allows you, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not exactly sure why there are two separate release dates, but I just received a few copies I ordered from Motorbooks today, it took right at 5 days via ground.

Thanks for the congrats and feedback, it'll keep me going to finish the 2nd book, I think I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

Just got my copy. First thought is, this thing is huge. Much bigger than any other LSx book I have.

Looks to be an awesome read.
