Default Noob Clutch question??

I have recently purchased an LS6 clutch, just pressure plate and disk. I had a LS1 clutch and flywheel, but the LS6 doesn't seem to mate up to the flywheel because there are 2 dowel pins, and about 3/8" of slack between the PP and Flywheel? I have never installed a clutch before so it could be something simple, because I haven't a clue. I am actually installing a T-56 in a 2000 RCSB chevy truck. Any help would be appreciated.

The slack is beacuse the PP has springs inside that need to be compressed, that is what puts the pressure on the disc.

Yes, assuming that the slack you reference is relative to the pressure-plate sitting above the flywheel bolt surface (before the bolts are tightened), this occurs so that the clutch can provide clamp. If the mounting surfaces of the plate and flywheel made contact, with the disc in place, the clutch wouldn't be able to apply the force needed to clamp the disc. This isn't an issue...its just part of the way the clutch functions.

As far as I remember, the LS1/6 have 2 dowel pins and the newer LS2/3/7 have 3 dowel pins except for the 6.0L GTO which has 2 dowel pins on the stock flywheel.

Ok, this clears a lil bit up for me, I'm thinking a may have purchase an LS7 without knowing it. The LS1 flywheel has 2 dowel pins directly across from each other, but the PP will not line up with these. On one side the bolt hole and dowel line up but then there are 2 more dowel pin holes on the PP where there is only one on the FW. The clutch disc also doesn't have the springs in the middle? The 2 LS1 discs that I have do... Is this a bad thing or better performance???

Ok this is what I purchased as an "LS6" removed off of a crate motor.
Part numbers:
Pressure Plate - 12568366
Clutch Disc - 12568368
Fly Wheel - 12554130N

Can someone tell me what flywheel I need and what clutch this is?

Though I hate to be the bearer of bad news, that is an LS7 clutch which explains why it won't work. You will need an LS1/LS6 plate to work with your flywheel. Or of course you can buy one of our kits. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Is it possible to purchase an LS7 flywheel and use it? The setup is goin behind a 5.3 in a RCSB silverado. I know the guys are using the LS7 clutch, but are they just using the disc or the whole setup with a different flywheel?

Based on the crank being the same for this model (relative to bolt pattern) you should be fine using a stock or similar flywheel. We offer an OE replacement part that you can use with the LS7 stock clutch (Part number SC66A-2). Let me know if you have any further questions.
