In Illinois you can try claiming damage from potholes through the Department of Transportation, or from the city itself.
Agreed.

When it comes to pot holes, or what we call in the insurance industry "Objects in the Road" is that it is the driver's responsibility to be mindful and if they have damage, it is not anyone's fault but their own.

If a brand new rim came apart due to a manufacturing defect, then thats a different story. BUT a driver nailing a nasty bump or hitting a wicked pothole bends a rim, thats his problem. I hope to be owning a set of Bogarts in the near future and even then IF I had to drive on them, it would be a slow and deliberate route to avoid known road issues.

I ordered Bogarts from Rich ohhh, probably less than a year ago for my FOX mustang. They even had to custom make the rears to clear a big wilwood brake set up.

One of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. Rich was a pleasure to deal with and he asked a TON of questions so he could make sure the rears were built correctly.

When they arrived they were perfect, and fit perfectly.

The car sees very little street time though.

I have to say seeing failures like this doesnt thrill me....but I will continue to use their product.

I didn't want them to give me a free wheel just cut me a break off the price of a new one. If they would have sold me a wheel at cost or even a discount what would it have hurt them. they already sold me a set that month. It would have made a customer that was going to buy 2 sets of backs (a track set and a street set) from them happy. Instead I waited 6 weeks and still couldn’t even get the one rim I wanted from them that I was paying full price for. I also believe that the pot hole I hit wouldn’t have taken out one of my stock rims and that BS wheels sell their wheels for street cars which are bond to hit a pot hole.

These Bogart wheels are the same thing they aren't just falling apart as ppl are driving them. Ppl are pulling wheels off the ground. then when the rims finally falls apart after a months of doing this going 15mph on the return road. They say it just feel apart? That’s ludicrous. The fact is the wheels should be able to take the abuse that they were made for and a company should try to stand behind their customers.

I'm just posting to say I have never had any problems with mine. Steve has outstanding customer service and has handled this thread very well.

I never have and never will drive them on the street. Slamming them on the ground after a big wheelie at the track is a different issue, but honestly what brand lightweight drag wheel is going to take that?

You hit a pot hole with a light weight drag wheel........ what did you think would happen??? When a company or wheel says "not recommended for highway use" that should give you a clue to not drive over pot holes...........

These companies really just need to say sorry about your luck when they find out the wheel failed when driving it on the highway............

People don't realize that sometimes wheels fail on track only car's............ when you want things lighter unless you are going from steel to titanium things get weaker.........

uscg, I can see where you might ask the place you bought the wheel from for break if you just bought them, kind of a bad luck discount. But the distributor is a different company than the manufacturer.

I am talking about the billet specialties that Steve posted a pic of. It’s a street wheel throw and throw. There not even that lit. The distributer I got them from was a liar that is way he is not only no longer a sponsor for ls1tech but is also banned from this sit and I believe is no longer in business. That is why I had to take it up with the manufacturer. I was in fact defending Steve and staying there are other companies out there that are even less willing to stand behind their product that they market for street use.

Spell check makes posts easier to read.

How does a wheel company not know a bent or broken street wheel was not because of some driving not having a clue and driving threw pot holes and other road hzzards all the time?

There are FACTORY wheels all the time that get bent and even Porsche wheels that bend why? Becuase the driver either ignoores road hazzards or did not see a pot hole.........

Thing's just don't break under normal conditions......... Remember the law of "for every reaction there is an oppisite and equal reaction for that action"? A wheel will not bend or break unless an outside force causes it...... Same thing with welds.. as long as it is a good weld it will not break unless something causes it to...

I had the wheel a month and i bent it. i drive on the same crap roads for 2 years on my stock rims and im back to driving on my stock rims and there doing just fine. The BS wheels have only been out a few months and there is only a handful of ppl driving on then and there are two that fail in the same way the hoop bending. that just what has been posted here on tech. these are street wheels they should hold up but they don't. i was told i was SOL by BS a month after buying them. They didn't do any thing for me. Businesses need to stand behind there product. i think if Steve offered to do a repair on his rim at a reasonable rate that is more then fair for a rim that was bought 4+ years ago. i would have been perfectly happy with that or a discounted price for a new one but i was offered nothing.

You take a chance when you go aftermarket. If only a few of these wheels are out and they start to fail then you have a valid point but it is like a new car.... if you get say a 2010 Camaro and it has bugs you can't complain because everyone knows the first year of anything has bugs.

I ALLWAYS wait a while before buying anything to see if it has any problems that pop up.

How do you know they others are not driving threw pot holes? For all you know they are saying thaey are not because if they admit to what they REALLY did when driving then no company would help them out.

How bad was it bent? How deep was the pot hole? Again if the pot hole is excessive you should claim that with the city. Got a pic?

At least here in Indy it has to have been previously reported (the hole) for the claim to go threw unless they have changed that rule.

Good point thogh, your gripe should be with the city.

the city of Baltimore has so much red tape to go throw for a complaint like this that its not even worth the time.

as for a billet specialty they had the ability to satisfy a customer that was going to buy more from them. i was going to bite the bullet on the cost of replacing the wheel but they couldn't even get me a standard size rim in a timely matter. i waited six weeks and still they couldn't tell me how much longer i was going to have to wait. these aren't custom wheels like bolgarts there on the same leave as tt2s. The bugs that have to be worked out in the first year of a production are the responsibly of the manufacturer.

Im just informing others out there that if they want any kind of customer services BS may not be the wheels for them. I thought this went well with the topic of this thread at least someone tried to help this guy that didn't even buy this wheel and dosn't know its history of this 4+ year old drag only rim that "May come apart at high speeds and low speeds"

We run Bogarts all the time down here in Florida. My buddy Rick from Tallahasee Creek does wheel stands all the time and his car wieghs 3200 dry and 3450 wet (yeah... he could lose a few pounds). But no serious problem so far with the Bogarts (or his health).
