Default How To Fit a 345 Tire...Minitub!

Here is some progress on my 95 TA, it is still under the knife and should be done this winter.

The 345/25R20 tire was still rubbing after BFHing the inner wheel well, so we decided to minitub the car and here is how it turned out. I also painted the underside of the car at the same time.

I now have about 1" of clearance on both sides.

Sorry, I don't know how to post these images from Cardomain?

Looks like a lot of work, but I'm sure well worth it. Nice job.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to drive the car since I installed the Watts Link, but the install was VERY easy (as long as you don't have to custom make anything like I did, I had to make custom mounts to the rear end because his clamps will not work with a gusseted 9").

I need to really hammer the car in some corners to make sure the mounts I made will hold up to the loads they will see.

Love the mini tub. Can you still get all the stock interior and plastic back in?

I will look into photobucket...

Yes all the stock interior panels still fit, the only major change was cutting out the bracket that the rear seat stud threads into (the stud that the back of the rear seat locks onto in the upright position). Since I don't have a rear seat anymore it didn't matter, but a bracket could easily be made to remount that stud.

It was hard to see in the smaller pics, but I'm wondering what needs to be done for the LCAs? Do they remain in the stock position, or did you need to relocate them further inward? Any pics of that by chance?

im planing on doing the same thing. I ordering my MWC fab9 shortened 3 inchs witch didnt cost any extra and im haveing the LCA moved inward witch he charged me 50$ for.

im not sure if that has to be done or not but for 50$ id rather it be done the right way the first time. i think u can also get off set LCA if u already have a rear end and dont want to be hacking up the powder coating

Yeah the LCA's are rod end with offset mounts, which I also got from Eric at MWC. You don't have to change any of the hard mounting points, just use the offset aluminum bushings to move the LCA's, I think 1/2" or 3/4", inward

Ok, see, this is what confuses me.. You add a good 6" or so of inner fender, and yet you only maove the LCAs in less than 1" As is right now, I only have maybe 1" of clearance between my wheel and LCA iirc. So if I moved my LCA inward 3/4", that means I could be able to have a 1.5" wider wheel (allowing for a minimal .25" clearance to the relocated LCA). So why would I need to add 6" for the minitub since all I would be able to utilyze is an additional 1.5"? Seems the BFH mod should do the trick.. Maybe I'm just not understanding this all. Thats kinda why I was wanting to see bigger pics.

No we only added about 1" more inner clearance, it was A LOT of work for a little extra room! The BFH mod almost made enough room to fit the tire, they would only rub on unlevel ground. We just thought since the car was apart, we might as well do it right and minitub just so there is NO chance of the tire rubbing and wearing the sidewall.

Nice minitub! Im still debating wether or not to do it. Is your rear end narrowed? Hows the res of the car coming along? Did you ever get your flares done?

What mini tub kit did you use or was it just custom?

Let's keep this on topic. He isn't asking for comments on whether or not you like how the car looks.
