Default Solenoid Won't Open...Even at 950PSI...Ideas?

Well went to the dyno and track today to play around with the spray and ran into the same problem at both places. Once I get the bottle heated up to around 950 PSI the damn solenoid won't open. I can purge fine so I know the nitrous is getting there but it will not get it to the plate. The fuel solenoid works fine and both solenoids are wired together to the same ground and relay power.

Both times I was able to put a full cold bottle on and it sprayed fine but I was a little rich running only around 800psi before pressure drop. I have no question that HSW will take care of me, but I was wondering if you guys had any ideas before I waste their time and my shipping money to send the solenoid in to get checked?

I thought bad ground could possibly be a problem, but both solenoids share a ground and the cold bottle sprays fine.

What size bottle? I know that sometimes a bigger bottle can do that.

the power feeding the solenoid is low or not enought amps...needs a relay. Or you nitrous solenoid is bad. sorry I see you have a relay. hook it right to the battery with a test wire heavy guage and see if it opens, make sure it is unhooked from the engine

Do you think I should have 2 separate relays? Once for nitrous solenoid and one for fuel solenoid to get each enough power? Could it be a grounding problem as well as a power problem?

I had the same problem and all it ended up being was the ground wasnt solid enough. It would spray with low pressure but not at high pressure. Also check that your relay has a good ground as well.

I had a similar problem... It ended up being a week solenoid.

one relay should be fine...unless it is junk. my bet if the wiring is good then it is the solenoid plus if the fuel one is working it stand to reason that the relay is working and the activation system you have. just my .02

put a good ground straight to it and a good 12 v to see if it open. sounds like a bad noid though.

Yup, make sure you are gettin enough power to the noid and make sure you have a good ground. If you have both then it's a bad coil in the solenoid. You can buy new coils for them.

What kind of solenoid is it?

i had both my fuel and nitrous noids grounded to the same spot on two differnt locations and anything about 950 my nitrous noid would not open. I then moved the ground for the nitrous noid to the neg. terminal on the battery and have not had an issue even at 1150psi

I'm going to try that. I'm just going to splice a ground from the battery to the common ground for both solenoids about 1" from the solenoid. Hopefully it works!

Also what size wire are u using? I wouldn't do seperate relays cuz if the fuel relay fails and nitrous doesn't.... Not good. But the ground like mentioned is a great place to start

mine had the same problem, i've got the HSW 3 port "big" solenoids... turned out being the power wire from the relay to the solenoid, the gauge of wire was too small. It would spray @ 900 PSI but 1k and it wouldn't even open.

I have the same problem so far with my HSW showtime purge noid as well. I sent mine in but they said it was fine, cound't duplicate problem? I would keep testing before you send it in, or your wasting your $$$. I got mine back and am rechecking for the 20th time. At 1050 my noid stops working even with direct wiring to battery. I even bought a second pressure gauge to make sure I wasn't putting to much to it. I start at 900 psi and test it every 25psi increments and at 1050 it fails. I also tested my NX noid and it will go to 1200 before failure.I've wasted at least a bottle testing, hooking and unhooking so far. Not sure what else to test???? I will give it another go this week.

Saturday I'm going to try running another ground and power out of thicker gauge wire (I'm just using what came with the kit). If that doesn't work the noid goes back to HSW. I need to send in my Microedge in anyway for the upgrade.

I just started having this same issue Sat night. My noid would open fine at 900psi but as soon as it hit 950psi it would lock up. I have a Nitrous Outlet noid. Took it apart today and there was a ton of trash in the screen. I am running a inline filter so I'm not sure how anything got past it. I haven't tried it yet. I also moved the ground wires from the firewall to the back of the block. As soon as I get a bottle in it I will test...

Looks like either one or the other or both fixed the issues. Got it up to 1000psi and it sprayed just fine and also felt like it hit alot harder than usual. Im spraying a 150 on a LS2. Still not sure how trash is getting past the inline filter...

if there is trash getting into the screen be sure you are not using telfon tape on any of the threads. The nitrous will eat the tape out and make small little ***** that will plug the screen. you plaste it does'nt seem to do it.

Not sure what filter you are using but with the right filter the only way trash will make it to the solenoid is if you did not blow out the lines before making final connections. If using our large cleanable style filter it should catch rust dust and all.
