Since I have a lube shop, I was thinking every 4-500 miles, lol, depends on your driving habits and the weather and terrain where you live, 3-5K miles and always look at the oil on your stick, that is also a clue and how it also smells too, HTH.

LOL, I noticed that it took an asston of oil after buying mine. I'm not up to 3000 miles yet, but I'm dreading the first one. I'll have to check into the kit!

The owners manual states to change the oil when the "change oil light" comes on. I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic at 1500 miles....first oil change was at almost 15,000 miles.

If you change you oil more than that you are throwing money away. My truck gets changed every 10K....my Mercedes is scheduled for an oil change every 12,500 miles.

Change as recommended by the factory unless you have your oil tested and can prove your requirements are different. More or less.

Motor oil is a lot better than it was in the past and I believe the 3K limit to be way overprotective/ a way of earning money.

I have known of people that didn't change their oil for years on end and their vehicle lasted quite a while although I know at that point it was abuse.

There is nothing wrong with 8K on the factory oil.

I have a print out of the GM service specs for the G8 GT and it Does NOT say to use synthetic. I had two dealershps tell me that and I had the dealer that I bought the car from look it up and it does not. Poss the GXP does, As of aug the only new cars from chevy and pontiac that require syn oil are vettes. the new camaro was not in the system nor was the GXP at that time

I agree, a lot has to do with how good the PCV system is as well. But with 9 quarts I'll change mine when the light comes on. I did change it at 1000 miles because I was going on a trip and figured i'd get the first change over with. It has 7500 miles and the light hasnt come on yet..

i buy my mobile one from walmart, its 22.xx for a 5 qt jug. so thats not that bad, it screws me cause the V takes 6 qts so i wind up spend like 6.xx on a single qt. you guys would save a ton just buying two 5 qt jugs for 45.00 and a 6 dollar oil filter. and doing it yourself.

I have a GXP and it come with Mobile 1 Synthetic as factory fill and requires it per the owners manual. The GT does not require it nor is it factory fill, but it wont hurt a thing to use it.

I have ran Mobile 1 in all of my LSx cars and in my 1989 Formula 350.

my friends 08 gt went 13.4 @107 lastnight bone stock. it has 13k mi and had the oil changed once. The oil life monitor works well. You are wasting money by changing the oil sooner. Synthetic oil will last 10k plus wit no problem.

Yea, MOBIL 1(as with any other full syn) can go 9-10k pretty easy.
