Need T56 input shaft end play/preload setting.
Need T56 input shaft end play/preload setting. I will soon be changing the mid-plate and input shaft in my LT1 T56 to the LS input and mid-plate. I've been searching but can't find the end play and preload settings for the LS input shaft. I want to make sure I have the preload and bearing shimmed properly. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Stock values are in the Service Manual (pg43):

I usually add 0.002-0.003 additional shim to the stock values to keep things tight as the aluminum case expands under heat.

Verdad Gallardo You set the countershaft pre-load first, then the mainshaft, or if you've been doing it long enough, you can set them both at the same time.
The tranny is out of my 98 camaro. 3rd started grinding so i took it out to rebuild it. I think its got about 100k on it. I got a level 2 rebild kit and all new bearings from The Gear Box. I just set the countershaft end play but i still have no play and its tight? Anymore info you need to diagnose the problem??
