Small cam (for stroker) and going through stalled auto. Numbers will definitely be lowered

Hey Tony I have some pics i will get up for you of these pistons. I am using the same piston, only difference is mine are 0.060 over vs 0.040. They are really good pieces, however I am scared to put any type of power adder on them i.e. nitrous. 408strokerss has more ***** than I in that reguard.

Hey Who did your portwork, I have just recieved my heads and I am curious as to how my setup will fair. I purchased my Trick Flow heads from Total Engine Airflow. They end up with a 220 intake runner, with good flow numbers IMO & where is your compression falling around? I lack headers, rockers, pushrods, and and camshaft to put my engine together, but I chose to go with a solid roller. Just trying to get some basic ideas, as I have been concerned about header sizing and intake effeciency for this motor. I have a loftier goal and maybe I am out of reach and need to tone my goal down.

Definitely sounds great, this gives me new inspiration to finish this project. I'm looking forward to more vids, and maybe talking with you at the LSx shootout if you still plan to attend.

Fran from Race Proven Motorsports built a 396 that made a ton of hp, like 680 if my memory serves me. A bunch more with nitrous.

Well generaly .060 over is what people believe is the max safe over bore, so if that is the case then a 414.2 cid is the largest possible out of an LT1 block.
Who knows, maybe someone with money to burn will try .090 or .120 over to come up with a 420 or 426 respectively. Who knows how thin those walls can get before you blow a hole through them or crack the block?

I'd have to agree unless it was 600+ on the nitrous. It would be totally undrivable and very high revving to get that id imagine.

My understanding is that going over a 396 (and even the 396?) requires heavy clearancing of the block? What would something like that cost for a machine shop to do? What effect does that have on reliability/longevity/strength?

my rotating assembly did not take much more clearancing than a standard 396 clearance job. Yes it does get very close if you aren't careful but i have been lucky so far not to hit water. I have had 4 strokers between my 3 last cars. The block is still strong, however some people hard blok the lower portion to add a little more strength, and they dont have any problems with the street driving if it is done right. Hitting water is not the end of the world in clearancing, it doesn't meen you have trashed a block.the same clearancing that i had done for the 396 was sufficient for the 415, but the biggest thing is the rods. Lots of people would feel safer with h-beams, but for the purpose of this motor, the i-beams will be perfectly fine for the appication, and allows everything to fit just fine. Now i will say that my block clearancing was previously done for a h-beam 396 so it took a little more convincing.
