Default I wanna be in the twelves, any advice or tips?

So the last time I took the car to the track it was my personal best time with some break in miles on my 3.73 gears.

I ran a 13.209 @ 104 mph with a 1.9 60' I have a set of 555r drag radials, the 3.73 gears, lca's, phb, a custom ground cam, and a mail order tune. From what I've read everywhere else, I feel like I should at least be in the mid 12's area and I don't know why I feel like it's not fast enough.

I'm assuming it doesn't help that I have 138K miles on the stock bottom end but still, I plan on taking out my subs next time before I go, and I would like to get a dynotune so that I can get my shift points optimized, when I ran that 13.2 pass it was in the first 3 gears and I didn't hit 4th until after I crossed the finish line

get everything sorted out and then see what it runs.. if its your not making a clean pass you can't compare your times to others... I would do a tune-up (seafoam, oil change, plugs, fuel filter) then get a dyno tune to make sure its shifting where it should be and everything is good... From there it sounds like you will have your 12

i did the tune up with seafoam, changed all the plugs, did the oil change, my fuel filter is barely a year old. I think I need the dynotune and then I should be in the twelves.

My overall goal is to have a high 10 low 11 second stock looking street car

How long was your burnout? The Nitto's like alot of heat at least 5 sec or more to hook really well. If you can pull a low low 1.8 or a 1.7 60' then you are in. Like above tune will help tremendously.

I ran a 12.69 with a bone stock 2001 Z28 and some drag radials back in 2001..... You should be able to do it with all those mods! Mine was a 6 spd though.

It was really hard for me to a hold a burnout in the burnout box, I felt like I had to smash on the breaks to get the rear tires to spin, maybe because they were brand new radials?

You can try to start the burnout in the water, once you get it going, slowly release pressure of off the brakes to let it out of the water, be sure to NOT abruptly come off the gas, roll through your burnout gently shedding RPM's

Definitely have more left in it. I ran a 13.3 @ 103 w/a 3.73 and my cat delete and a few worthless mods.

i'm goin to the track tomorrow, I've heard speedinc is gonna be there and a couple buddies of mine so I'm gonna see if I can break into the 12's tomorrow. I took out my stereo and I'm gonna take out the passenger seat as well. I think with my new trans in it should definitely help.

So I went to the track last week on Weds and it was beautiful racing weather. I drove all the way there and the car was driving perfectly so I was excited to make some good passes. My first pass I lit the tires up forever so I knew they were hot, I felt the launch perfect, but it hit 7k rpms a little after 1/8th mile and I left off just a little bit. I made a 13.1 pass at 98mph. Next pass 3rd gear was toast, after only 215 miles on my rebuilt trans it was toast again!!

So I have my guy currently ripping apart the whole trans and rebuilding it completely from scratch, I hope to try and get my 12 second pass in before the end of the season...It may help that today I bought some weld draglites with Hoosier radials from a member, we'll see if that helps

Its an automatic I gather.

Get a 3,400 or higher stall (with an external cooler) and welcome to 12s. Most converter swaps average a drop of .50. No auto car that races street, strip, rolls or digs should be without a stall converter.

Hit 4th after the traps??? You do not want to shift into 4th if you have an A4(4l60e) tranny. with 3.73 gears you should be able to run 125mph at 6,600 rpms with a 26inch tire. If you shift into 4th at the traps your shift points are way off. Maybe thats why the tranny is going out?? shifting into 4th at WOT is bad on that 2-4 band. You said you have a cam, so I would think you would want to shift somewhere near 6,300 on the 1-2 shift and 6,200 on the 2-3 shift. maybe set redline near 6,500? Pay attention to shift points and maybe have someone video your speedometer and tack while you make a wot pass somewhere safe.

Its hard to tell on this vid due to the car spinning and I let off, but when I got back into it you can see the 2-3 shift at about 71mph and 6,300 rpm. In third I ring it out to 5,900 rpm and am only at 110.

This was with my 3.73 gears, and 2800 stall.

I cuss at the end.....Cop, but he didn't do anything...??

well what I'm waiting for is the money to have a dynotune done because with my cam setup, it's hard to dial in the tune through a mail order tune because I have a stock bottom end with a big cam and I'm thinking about going FLP for the dynotune. But I have a 3,200 stall, I have the drag radials, I mean I've got everything I need I just need to have everything work
