Greg Smith XL-9 Master Series lifts - input, opinions?
What about Direct Pull OH8000?
Atlas OH9000?
The salesman told me both the Direct Pull and Master Series are made in China and are ISO9001 certified (not the same as load certification). Greg Smith does not load test these lifts. I asked why they are better, and he said different manufacturer than the other Chinese made lifts.
Anyone know if or why the Direct Pull and Atlas are better than the Master Series? I'm assuming better b/c they cost more.
He did tell me that the Atlas has a 5 yr. warranty and that both safety latches can be unlatched from a single location.
When I was selling tools a allignment shop was looking into a new 4 post lift, I priced him a Forward(Americaian made) and he said it was too high, 2 weeks later i rolled in and he had a Greg smith lift. Right off the bat it had an electrical problem and he called them back and they sent one out within a couple of weeks, However while the boys at the shop where unloading it they broke a pulley. this was in early spring of the year, When I quit the buisness and the last time I was in that shop was in early fall and they were still waiting on a pully. All the time they were doind allignments on the ground.
Yes he saved a s lot of money but he later told me he wished he had bought the Forward, which all parts are in stock somewhere in the states, and been done with it
But they are a good deal. If I was putting on in a hobby shop id be all over one, However in a buisness Id go with something american made.
