2 questions, forgive me for sounding dumb.

1. your feeding the spring into the hose, end of the coil goes into the hole of the hose, with lots of lube. correct?

2. does this affect the way the spring functions during compression, make noise etc?

Thanks for your time and reply.

yes that is correct. as far as compression goes, the length of the spring is unchanged, you are just changing where it comes in contact with the body. they make no more noise then when i had the isolators in.

I took out the rear isolators 30K miles ago and never heard ANY strange metal to metal noise. Need for hose is possibly a myth.

it not recommended to run them with anything other than stock springs or the SLP Eibach springs

I am going to do this hose mod with V6 springs and I have ET streets 295/50 R16 . . . 28" tire.
Do you think that I will be rubbing with the hose mod?

I got a 1/2" drop.
I don't see how 3/4" or 1" drop would be possible, since all the isolators should be molded alike, unless the springs weren't fully seated in the isolators. Meaning the end of the coil against the stop in the isolator.

I just got done installing my S60 rear end. Since I knew ahead of time that the axle tubes were thicker I knew I needed to do something or I'd really have a 4x4. I have stock Z28 springs, and I used some 1/2 heater hose that I sprayed some white lithium grease in on my springs. End result: Dead even. Looks the same as stock I guess that means that it would have sat about 1/2 taller if I hadn't of done it.

This is what I'm going to do later this week. I removed the isolator, but it still doesn't do much for me. I didn't put the hose on, and I'm not hearing any metal to metal contact.

all springs are not the same though. in my case, my car had 190K on it when i did this mod, the same car with fewer miles may not have the same drop because the springs arent as worn. also LS1 springs are taller than LT1 springs
