zz502 on a 83 truck?
The 14 bolt rear will be well able to take the 502. Is it a full floater? Or semi floater? (Hub stick out from center of rear wheels? or not)
Both of those will take a LOT of abuse, my blazer has a pretty stout 383, with a 4 speed and a 14ff rear. Lets say I beat on it pretty hard, and both have taken a pounding quite nicely.

Either way, I'm sure you will have fun with it.
Why not check out some motors from jegs/summit? They have comparable motors to GMPP but cheaper, also check out Competition Products. They are more based towards whole-sale stuff. But they have some pretty good deals!

id appreciate it if you know a specific shop thatll build a reliable 502, i looked at the motors on jegs and summit, blueprint and trickflow both offer 383 motors that seem to be priced reasonable but again, havent read any good things about them. i know its too pricey but better safe than sorry
