If it works great for you then keep it.

I'm not sure why you would run a breather and then still keep the PCV line that can pull oil into the intake manifold. Isn't the point of the breather to be able to remove that line?

After running it like this for over 130,000 miles and making 452/418 and only using a half quart of oil every 5,000 miles and with no oil in the intake tells me that it is right ...

Fat chance! 393 RWHP

So I'm looking at changing things.

mass1 is correct, if you run a breather cap on the oil filler you have to cap off the passenger side vent port that originally goes back into to the TB. otherwise you are defeating the true purpose of the breather.

Before I'd change things I would investigate as to what the real problem is. The engine made 393 rwhp at only 5700 rpm??? Post up the dyno graph, something is not right.

I will see if I can't get it from Fran.

It basically climbed good but at 5700 it dropped right off back down to 363. At the shop there they thought it may be the rockers playing some role in valve float. I thought with Patriot Gold springs I would be fine.

If it was valve float you would know for sure, your dyno graph would flatten out, not drop and it would feel like your car was just hovering in RPMs, the springs should be fine. Don't forget the converter is going to eat some of that power up, you RPM drop off could be the effect of the low duration cam. Post up your graph so we can see what you low/midrange power looks like. Pm'ing you to.

You have something that is not right...I make 452/418 with heads/cam bolt ons using a 224/228 .581/.588 110 + 0 LSA .. I am a 6 speed but your auto should be making better numbers than that.

What springs and rockers are you running? I asked Fran for the graph. I will post it if he forwards.

That's about right for that cam, those heads, through an A4. It's harder than some people think to break 400rwhp through an automatic with a small cam.

A custom cut cam would have yielded the same driveability and better results. The 224/228 grind is ok, but it's dated technology.

Thats a big stall so its not going to be a dyno queen for sure.

Run it at the track first and see what it does before you go changing things.

I have a very similar setup to yours, and my car was also dyno`d at RPM.
I sent a PM your way.

Well I got rained out but did get 5 passes in. The weather was moist and not very cool either but the best run:

1.55 60'
7.28 1/8th
93.74 1/8th MPH
11.46 1/4
117.81 1/4 MPH

If your car really weighs 3800, then you don't even need to worry about dyno #'s. 11.40's @ 118 is nothing to sneeze at on shakedown runs in a 3800lb car.
