2nd and 4th are gone :(. Rebuild or buy new? How much to fix?
Your opinions will be greately appreciated.
From What I have learned in the past month there is no way to know how much a rebuild will cost until you open it up and see what needs to be replaced. You also have to be careful because a lot of the rebuild packages that are offered might not include the parts that you need replaced. Have you had it opened up and diagnosed yet? If so check out the packages that Tick Performance offers and see if that will work out http://www.tick-performance.com/tick...ackages/fbody/ I have no ties to them, everybody just talks very highly of them on here.

Of course we'd be glad to rebuild your transmission if that is indeed what it needs. Or level two rebuild usually includes everything needed for most transmissions. It doesn't include gears however, so if one of those is broken it would be extra. The cost for that would be around $1200 including the shipping.

Will disagree on that. You buy a used one...what are you getting? They gonna guarantee it? you are also gonna spend more money on a used one, in USED condition, or you can have it rebuilt and upgraded, from someone like us, and have a 1 year warranty on it to boot.
PM coming...
. After reading your comments I'll go with a rebuild then, as new is over my budget, the rebuilt ones on ebay are around $1700 after your core, I'll keep reading from you guys and make a decision where to go for a rebuild, local or far with shipping.
Short story behind the tranny : Guy I bought it from said it was rebuilt with a 1000 miles on it after the rebuild, I put close to 4k miles on it since then. Did it look clean as after a rebuild? YES. But clean doesn't mean it was rebuilt. I'll find all these answers after checking my B&M shifter stops tomorrow, how didn't I think about that? Thanks a lot Jonathan.

Well, if you bought it, and put 4K miles on it and has been fine, I would tend to say that teh tranny was pretty good, and teh guy did not try and rip you off, as anything can happen over time. Mechanical stuff "just breaks", and you never know when that is gonna be. You installed tranny, and it goes out that day, or whatever, and starts giving you problems, THEN I would say seller ripped ya. But, for it to last 4K miles, I don't think he was hiding anything...
If you decide to ship to us, rather easy actually. Go to Home Depot or Wal mart, pick up large plastic container, some old towels/padding, drain ALL teh fluid. Pack it up. Call UPS to come get it (give dimensions, and tell them it weighs @ 125LBS) and that's it. Will run ya @ $90-$115 each way.
Good luck, and if there is anything else I can do for ya, let us know
I'll keep you guys in mind for a future business, I appreciate all the info.
