Default Inspection due this month

The ABS INOP, BRAKE, and TCS OFF lights go on and off randomly. I think it's because of a loose sensor or something. I don't know. Inspection is due this month. If the lights are on while I'm getting it inspected, will it pass?

Depends on what code is thrown. Almost sounds like a blown 3rd tail light bulb... or at least its close to going.

Ah. I hope it's that simple. As far as I know it works. I had my cousin help me check it out a few months back.

Dont think they will even be checking that, they might be more concerned to know what kind of exhaust you are running. I have had two of those lights one for about a year now and they where never brought up as an issue during inspection

I see. I have just a catback. A rear oxygen sensor code was on for a little bit, but it's off now.

my ses used to come on randomly in my old car. too get it off i would disconnect the battery for a while then hook it back up. the light would usually stay off for a day or two.

Well, mine comes on because of a rear oxygen sensor code. It's been off for a while, though.

If its throwing anything in the computer then it will fail. Just because the light isnt on doesnt mean its not logging the code.

make sure the SES light hasn't been on for exactly 50 miles.. then pull your butt in somewhere and get it inspected

Maybe I'll pull the negative end of the batter off before I go!

You won't fail with a stored code, as long as the MIL is not being commanded on at the time of inspection. If the MIL is not being commanded on the inspection computer will not query the PCM for stored codes, only for readiness status for all the monitors. I believe the law allows 2 not ready's for 2001 and older, and 1 for 2002 and newer. Usually the evap system takes a long time to get "ready" (a full tank of gas or so) so I guess thats why they let you pass with a 1 or 2 not ready.

You shouldn't fail for any lights on other than the "service engine soon" (abs/tcs/etc does not matter). Of course make sure all your lights and horn and that kind of stuff works, you don't want to fail for something stupid like that.

Is it 'off-off?' Like, no longer throwing the code or do you have your SES light 'fixed?'

It has to be off and not throwing 2 or more not ready codes. If you just have the light turned off but the problem is still there, it wont pass. The laws have changed and its harder to get it passed this year and the years to come.
From my understanding (we havent tried it) But if you have a buddies camaro that will pass, bring it up there and if the inspection place is cool. Just enter in your cars VIN, but hook it up to the other car. I would bring both cars up there if I were you and then put the new sticker on your car. ..
May or may not work.. The Computer has your VIN stored in it and thats what its checking now- But were not sure if it just checks to see if its just a camaro or if it checks the VIN they type in and then check it agaist your computer.. PM me if you have questions

Thanks

Did that make sense???

Then you should have nothing to worry about. As long as the light isnt active at the time of inspection you should be good to go. The reason I asked is because I have heard of people disabling (unplugging) their SES light thinking they could pass inspection that way.

Do they hook up to the OBD2 port where you guys live? Here they just do the lights/horn/insurance deal.
