Default my 5.3 1970 k5 blazer,monster style!

well i just wanted to show off a few pics of how it all turned out.thanks to everyone on here who helped me with advise and questions along the way.this was its first time running away from the driveway at home.

its a 1970 chevy k5 blazer, full frame off resto,2004 5.3,stock harness reworked by speartech ,manual toploader transmission, military 2.5 ton transfer case,5 ton rockwell military axles w 6:44 gears, and 63" tall rice and cane tires with 4" deep lugs.it has a 4link with coil spring front suspension and leaf spring and traction bar rear suspension,90% of all truck was done by me,body work to chassis building.truck pulled and spun the tires really well in low and first, could do ok in 2nd but bogged a little in the deep and thick mud.think im gonna swap to a 9:34 or 10:26 gear set, maybe a few engine mods.
thanks to all who kept this great site runnin.

lol,thanks all.
you wanna see how crazy i really am???heres the link to my build thread of all the metal and body work i did.i admit i got a little overboard.but once i got into it,i knew id end up with a 100% all steel and rust free very solid truck:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=221935

the 6.0 will probably not go in for a while, unless there would be an unfortunate engine failure of the 5.3.ive got to get my wifes truck built first.its gonna be a crew cab s-10,5.3 turbo400 trans, double transfer cases,5 ton axles and 49" tires.once thats done the 6.0 will go in mine.

Wow, just looked at your build thread... insane! Nice work.

Maybe this sounds a little nuts but how do you change engines? Swap to the "short" tires and take off the front clip? I'm not even sure you would be able to clear the bumper and crossmember at that point.

first time i installed engine frt clip was off and truck was in garage.
second time i swapped engines front clip was on,hood was off i used a forklift, wasnt that bad,had big tires on it so the trans and underside bolts were easy, maybe took couple hours.
the front clip will come off no problems, except just being up in the air a little.
if i drop it down and set the front axles on the ground my engine hoist would work if i took off the clip or at least one fender and inner fender.most likely ill just use my buddys forklift or front end loader if i ever have to swap out again.

Slide in an 04 Z06 cam and springs. Then swap to an 02 F body fuel and timing map. Will wake it right up without being overly nasty

No..here's what you do...

Pull the Valve Covers and take off the Rockers(going to have to do this anyways for the Spring Swap). Remove the Pushrods. Tear it down to the point to where you are about to remove the Cam. Instead of pulling it out, spin it around a few times. What that will do is push the Lifters up into the plastic Retainers and it will hold them there. Then carefully remove and install the Cam.

As far as the Heads go..the 317's are better, up to you if you want to upgrade.
