Default Houston, What happened to N20 prices?

Some of you guys may remember I just moved back to houston last month from being gone for 6 years (Military). Anyway, just gotta ask, why is n20 refills $4/lb? Just seems a bit ridiculous, since we all used to pay around $2.50/$3.00 lb. I'm pretty sure n20 didn't become scarce over the time I was out A little insight please.

That's what I'm sayin'. n2o hasn't turned into a low supply/high demand item I'm sure. I typically put 2 bottles through my motor a week and I know there are guys that go through a LOT more than that. Somethings gotta give here. $4/lb is crazy.
If anyone has a little dough to spend and is looking to make an immediate nice side income, get a refill station, set up with Airgas to get 5 mother bottles, sell it at $2.75-3/lb, advertise, repeat the next week.

It costs money to produce and transport nitrous. If those prices for producing and transporting go up, so does the price for the product.

Mother Bottles are about 150-180 a piece to fill up now a days depending on where you get them. you can get about 4 full 10# bottles and a little extra. out of one big bottle. That's what driving prices up.

Welllll the reason is a 200 shot doesn't last but a few 1/4 mile passes. So yeah, two a week is about the minimum.

Airgas is the only company that sells n20 they have the market cornered right now that is why prices are so high. I fill my own bottles and I get about 5 fill ups per big bottle[if im lucky]. So I get 50lbs of n20 and I pay 130.00 for the fill ups of the big bottles thats $2.60 per lb. By the time you pay 650.00 for the refill station and 200.00 for the big bottles before filling them up you will have over 1000.00 tied up into a decent setup . you dont save that much money unless you use a lot of n2o its not worth it. If you go through 2 bottles a week you need to get a refill station.

Exactly. The reason most go with n2o is cause it was the cost effective power adder. seems it just got less cost effective.

U LUZ: Thanks for the explanation. I was just havin' a hard time wrapping my head around what was goin' on. Guess I gotta get a refill station...not such a bad thing.
