Difference between the 01 clutch and the Z06 cluch?
My peddle is very soft compared to 99's that I have sat inside. Mine travels far...and it seems to engage very high.
Anyone got a similar feel on the 01-02 clutch??
Thinking about ordering the Z06 clutch....but I don't want to buy exactly what I have now. I like the feel of less travel...or I guess a harder feel in the peddle.

If that doesn't work, then I guess new clutch is enroute....unsure of what I will replace it with next time :/

If I may shed some light here. 01, be it Corvette or F car, has the Z06 clutch assembly. They were all the same part number, and still had some reliability issues, when subjected to drag strip launches on a consistant basis.
In 02, ZO6 got a specific clutch, with higher clamping force, stronger damper springs, and better friction material. The 02 fcar, and LS1 based Corvette, had the 01 clutch, plain and simple.
One thing that people do not realize is that these clutches, based on design may take up to 5000 to fully seat in. The reason is that this design clutch starts to grab at the outside edge first, and gradually clamps over the entire surface area. This is critical to know, as while your clutch wears, it will develop better clamping force as it wears. Also, the thoughts on the adjustable pressure plate is true, as the fulcrum point moves within the pressure plate, it will compensate some for driven plate wear.
All Gen3 clutches should grab about 1-2 inches off the floor board. If you are grabbing higher than half way, and you have no hydrualic leaks, then your plate is probably worn substantially.

[qb]I know alot of talk last year went back and forth stating the 2001's got a new clutch. I am very unsure if this was true or not.

[ November 22, 2001: Message edited by: CHRISC ] I LOST MY FIRST (STOCK) CLUTCH ON MY 10TH RUN. REPLACED WITH THE 02 Z06 CLUTCH FROM GM. ADDED BFG DR. THE ZO6 SETUP HAD ABOUT 2000 MILES ON IT. ON MY 2ND LAUNCH IT GAVE UP ON THE 1-2 SHIFT! WITH A 2.01 60 FT. I'VE RESEARCHED MANY DIFFERENT PLACES FOR A REPLACEMENT UNIT AND DECIDED ONE THE SPEC STAGE 3 KEVLAR UNIT AFTER TALKING TO EARL AT SPEC. I'M STILL DRIVING WITH THE 02 ZO6 UNIT WITH JUST ABIT OF CHATTER ONCE AND A WHILE. NO HARD DIVING UNTIL I GET THE SPEC UNIT INSTALLED. I HOPE TO DO THIS ON CHRISTMAS WEEKEND! I WILL REPORT BACK WITH THE OUTCOME AND SOME DRIVING FEEDBACK. MINE:02 Z28 M6 SLP YPIPE SLP LOUD MOUTH LPW REAR GIRDLE SLP LID IAT PLUG IN BEST 13.33 106.98 2.00 60 FT 168FT ELEVATION.

I went through a 01 z06 clutch and flywheel in 5000 miles...

Do ya know how to drive?? j/k I have over 19K on mine and have made atleast 30 track passes since 6K on the same clutch. Mine seems fine, I just don't like it....
Gonna see about getting the 02 clutch soon Will let you know any difference from the 01.
In 3000 miles I'd say my clutch has about 600 full out launches on it. It is just about dead.
Practice, practice, I know
