Yep made it a little too tall and didn't realize it till after I painted it. I'm going to cut it even with the taillights this weekend after the paint cures a little more.. Then it should look perfect!

Del, tell me about the camera. What's it hooked up to? I reread the thread but I couldn't see what its implementation was.

It's a 1" 12V reverse camera for my 7" flip-out screen. Honestly, there is no real purpose to it, other than the fact the HU can do it and I made a new filler and was able to incorporate it into it. I don't remember the specs of the camera, but I do know it's a reverse camera so I can see everything on the screen a mirror image of what it is (so the right of the screen is the right side of the car). it's wired to come on/off with my reverse lights. There's a single RCA cable run to the back of the HU for video and also hooked the wire from the HU to the light green wire in the driver's kick panel to tell the HU to flip to the backup camera.

Yep 98snakeater did his with fiber optics... I wanted mine to have a stock-size bird and lettering on it, plus I'm kinda handy with LEDs so figured I'd go a more difficult route (well, more stuff to do and WAY less holes to drill ).

I got the camera off ebay. It was around $40-$50 shipped if I remember right. Basically most of the reverse cameras are mirrored, 12v and similar in size.

How exactly did you get the plexiglass to contour? And I'm guessing you painted the plexiglass with the vinyl on there and removed the vinyl so it was clear on the "Trans Am" and the bird?

Looks Sunfire-riffic! You stole that idea from the sunfire, and now they have nothing to set them apart! I hope you're happy now!

BTW nice job. If I tried to do that I would have burned the whole house down and then the car would have caught on fire after the install.

Total is $120 with a camera, so add in labor and it'd be pretty expensive.
ok, so after you've made a bunch, you'll get quicker and quicker at it! would definatley bring that labor cost down.

does anyone work for an electronics company that might be able to run that board through a wave solderer?

Yep, stole the idea from a sunfire... but I used LEDs instead of bulbs.

Used a heat gun to contour the plexiglass. Whatever kind I bought you could heat the **** out of it and it wouldn't bubble. Had some old plexi-glass I was playing with at first and it'd bubble. Get use to bending it before you actually do, it'll make it easier. Get some water to toss on it when you'd done, it'll cool faster and stay that shape. Yep I put a decal on the exterior of it and painted it. Then before I sprayed the clear (keep in mind did all of this with Duplicolor spray paint), I peeled the stickers up and cleared afterwards. Then put some translucent red vinyl on the back to make it red when it's off.

The only profitable way is to charge alot or get template to etch my own boards. That'd save lots of time. But I know I'll never do it, really don't have the time. I've had all the supplies and the idea for close to a year and I'm just finally doing mine. Sad uh? Took Hurricane Rita to give me time to play, well play in between cleaning up my own yard or helping family/friends.

Thanks!

Nah, not wanting to make any more. I'm actually thinking of MAYBE selling it all but the camera and use my stock filler piece with the camera.
There's little things that I notice that bothers me sometimes. Nothing major, just minor things that I overlooked when I was building it. I'm kinda a perfectionist when it comes to stuff I make. I dunno, just speaking outloud
