Default FREE way to get speedo to work in th350/th400.

Posted this a long time ago but since the search doesn't go that far back anymore thought i would repost it.
splice your speed sensor into your front wheel sensor. if were an M6 put in 2.76 for your gear ratio, measure your front tires and put that in as your tire size.
You will lose your ABS.
Ok if you were an A4 you put in 1.175 for your gear ratio. and front tire size for "tire size".
Oh and if you want your speedo accurate please measure the circumferance of your front tire and divide it by pi (3.14) and that is your EXACT tire heigth.

Your welcome.

Needs to be a stickie for real. B/w you and I, I'd think we answered this question too many times. Your way is good for those not desiring to keep ABS. My way, call Rossler, and get the reluctor wheel and modified tailshaft housing that accepts a VSS, bolt-on and go. You can pull your reluctor wheel off your stock trans, but its a PITA and the new wheel is only $25 or so.

what wire on the VSS? i haven't looked at my car in months, so is there only one wire to being with? let's get a tiny bit more specific

but just basically run a wire from the VSS up to the wheel speed sensor and splice/solder those together?

there are two wires going to your VSS and there are two going to your ABS sensor.

It should be possible to use a op amp as a buffer (such as a lm328) and keep ABS AND use it for a speedo pickup.

I'm sorry bout this, but... so just connect those two wires then? any specific color match ups? It's a good idea that I'd like to take advantage of

yeah just cut off one pig tail and swap it for the other. i don't think the colors matter. its just a magnet that pulses. so it pulses either way.

would a rear speed sensor work? if so, the 4 channel abs guys could just mount another speed sensor to read one of the reluctor wheels and keep their abs.
just an idey...

For those of us who don't know where these wires are located, are there any pictures you have? Or any tips on how we can find this?

well the speedo wires go to the speedo sensor on the back of the original trannies. Its a black plug,
The ABS sensors are on the inside side of the hub on the front wheels. the rear sensors are on the back of the E brake backing plates (4 channel ABS/traction control cars) and on the top of the rear end (3 channel ABS/ no traction control cars.

ok to explain this a little more what i have gatherd is

1: remove the speed sensor from the tranny it has a pig tail on it!

2: on the inside of the front tire there is a sensor (ABS sensor), that you are suposed to swap the (VSS)-speed sensor into your ABS SENSOR..( ABS sensor) hents you wont have ABS anymore . who needs it anyway!

3: then if were an M6 put in 2.76 for your gear ratio, ALSO AS STATED measure your front tires and put that in as your tire size. to be accurate measure the circumferance of your front tire and divide it by pi (3.14) and that is your right tire heigth.

sux2bu correct me if im wrong thanks!
