Aluminum Flywheel or Billet Flywheel

Default Aluminum Flywheel or Billet Flywheel

I just recently bought a t56 for an a4 to m6 conversion. I was wondering if an aluminum flywheel would be worth the extra money as compared to a billet steel. What are the benefits of the aluminum flywheel as opposed to a billet steel flywheel?

Autocross= aluminum. Drag and everything else= billet.

if your car is your everyday driver, i wouldnt go with the aluminum. The extremely light weight flywheel will make driving around town a pain in the ***. Billet is fine. The stockers are cast iron hunks of ****.

Are aftermarket flywheels interchangable? I mean, would a Spec flywheel work with a different brand of clutch other than a Spec??

Yes Any LS1/6 clutch will work with any LS1/6 flywheel.

BTW I Daily Drive a Spec 3 and Hays Alum flywheel. It chatters now and again, but other than that I have no problems. I drive 18 miles each way to work, both highway and stop and go traffic.

It took me afternoon to get completely used to the lightweight flywheel. Actually Ive had complements on how well it drives, despite the lightweight flywheel.

I am going with an aluminum flywheel as well. It will be a drag car though. Ram twin disc comes with it. Small price to pay ($1199.99 ). The aluminum flywheel weight is offset by the added weight of the extra disc.
