I would hope that most know that the holes allow outgassing to escape the rotor allowing the pad to maintain contact with the rotor surface.
I ahve had a set on my car since 25,000 miles and now have 75,000 on it. the stock rotors could not even go 5,000 mile of normal driving without warping.
