Smile 3.5" aluminum driveshaft - 1000 hp rating!

http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com....html?item=541
There seems to be a lot of questions lately about driveshafts, so I thought I would post about the one I have found to be very durable. I broke a competitors 3.5" aluminum driveshaft three years ago, which uses a 1330 yoke, and requires a conversion U Joint. Mine broke right at the 1330 yoke. The PST driveshaft uses a beefier 1350 yoke and includes a heavy duty 1350/1350 U Joint. I haven't heard of anyone managing to break this driveshaft.

1350 Spicer Series: Manufactured with OEM tolerances and treated with PST's Cryogenic Process to yeild the strongest U-Joint available. For drag racing applications a solid non-lube design U-Joint is recommended because of the tremendous initial shock load, or short duration of high torque the joint must be able to withstand.
6061-T6 Dom tubing gives the most concentric Aluminum Driveshaft available. High strength aluminum tube yokes are Mig welded with less than 10 thousands total run out. The aluminum driveshaft is balance to less than 1/4 oz/in to assure vibration free operation.

Note: The stock G.M. driveshaft uses a lowly 1310 yoke! Bob

Stock ones don't always break at the yoke. They get ripped in half right in the middle. Aluminum is for beer cans.

Hey Bob,
I took your advice and went with the PST Aluminum I got barely used from another member here. My vibration is gone, and I've launched hard enough to get light under the front tires with no trouble.

Chromemoly is indeed a good way to go for those who are over 1200 hp. Bob

Driveshaft Measurements

Please measure the length required for the S60, see Dimension X. Thanks. Bob

My stock one looks like aluminum. Am I wrong? I think its stock. Looks like every other DS I've seen in f-bodies.

How does this one compare in weight?

The one that you have on your car is a stock aluminum driveshaft ? If so it is prone to snap and do some real damage to the undercariage of the car if you dont have a safty loop. From my understanding it doesnt take much to snap the stock one wit ha m6 car with semi sticky tires .

Correct, the stock ones tend to break quite easily. Bob

So the only advantage to this is durability.

I'll pass. I'm not trying to ridicule or anything but I've seen personally 3 f-bodies with over 500hp on stock DS launching at 4-5k everytime I go to the track.

I don't think they break as easily as you guys think or maybe some of the other guys that did have their stock ones break just got some of a bad batch from the factory.

Three 500hp F-bodies? I personally would never launch on a stock DS with anything close to 500rwhp, thats just me.

They are treading on thin ice... trust me. I hope they have at least a DS loop.

Heres what happened to a local 500 something HP car...

The drive shaft is the only thing I have left to replace. Can you get them 1" longer than stock? Are you offering any kind of deal? I need one of these. Shot me a PM on a price.
