Ah, we're at a tie! Original Poster, what are your exhaust plans, anyways? If you want something mild, just do some headers and leave the rest stock, if possible.

I do not currently own a G8, but I would consider buying the one with the manual tranny once it comes out. I was just thinking what kind of exhaust I would put on it if I did buy one. I think that a mellow and refined exhaust would best fit this car.

Just an interesting conversation right now.

i think this is one car that should be no. putting loud pipes on "everything" is just as bad as ricers putting Wings on Everything. mabe just remove the resonator just to give it a tad more sound. but flowmasters, gibson, magnaflow, no , no, no or you will turn a fairly nice refined looking car into the same rattle box as your ls1

well NOTHING needs OBNOXIOUS exaust... theres no point. thats why the adjective OBNOXIOUS best describes the kind of exaust that is that way, now throaty and mellow and deep are other storys. those words describe good sounding exaust notes in different variations. and yes i think any thing with a good quality v8, should sound as its intended to with free a free flowing exaust system and a quality muffler (or 2) for "rasp" control. just my .02

Exhaust and wings are 2 completely different things to compare too... Ones a good idea (exhaust) and the other is a terrible idea (wing).

Wings are just flat out dumb.. Anyone who puts a rear wing on a FWD car should have their license taken away.

Back on topic though. The G8 would be bad *** with a LM1 set up on it. You could probibly gain a **** load of performance from it to..

Ok, I had to break the tie and tip the scales toward mellow. But I don't mean stock whisper quiet. I'm talking about sound like a Hooker catback has on our cars. Mellow, but throaty when you get on it.

I voted no because I think this car could be a hell of a sleeper that could actually haul your family as well as serious ***! I guess I'm getting old. I'm about tired of loud daily drivers. If it had electric cut outs then I would be fine with a loud exhaust.

Keep in mind that most muscle cars were family cars in disguise. You would put a set of headers and "muffler" on a GTO right? If we let the spirit of V8 sedans powered with waaay more than they need die then what are we even keeping alive with rear wheel drive V8 American cars? Put some LTs on that bitch and let her breathe fire into some Chargers intake!

I voted no for obnoxious but it definitely does need a bit more bass. I love the way the stock system sounds on the GTOs. Maybe something along those lines might not be too bad for the G8.

I voted no. If corsa has an exhaust for this car I'd vote yes. You can't hear a corsa exhaust cruising down the highway, but at WOT heads will turn.

Agreed. I'd love to have a G8 or CTS-V that sounded like that.

Yes, like the LS2 GTOs the tone on the G8 is pathetic.

Look at the car in Australia, it's a muscle car. Not some silly Euro-wannabe BMW clone like Lutz is tryign to portray it here. A loud exhaust is pretty much the first mod any Aussie makes.

A loud and proud muscle car deserves an exhaust to do it justice. I will be putting one on mine.
