tune carb accordingly and enjoy. i dont run any vacuum advance on mine.
what is the reason for the drop between 3k and 5500?

I can see a drop above 5k rpm's to free up some horsepower but that's only on big compression motors. Thats a huge drop of timing at a low RPM range unless he's spraying it from there up?

The MSD box says it uses a 24x reluctor.. i have an L92 which I think is a 58. Do I have to change the wheel or is there a way I can make the MSD work? Sorry.. Im building an L92 with a 750 holley for my 68 Camaro just trying to get all the 2 million variables figured out..

MSD 6012 is the box you will need.

not sure about the fuel injected v carb debate but if i ever went FI i would do it like this guy.

edelbrock carb intake for FI, edelbrock FI elbow, edelbrock throttle body.

Well with a carburetor your fuel atomizes much better (mixes with air) as the A/F mixture has a longer distance to travel since it is mixed at the top of the intake rather than right before the intake runner in the head. form better IMO. everywhere else the FI will. I would imagine there'd be less camThe fuel on a carb setup actually cools the intake charge since it's only running at 7psi as opposed to the 50+psi of FI which actually heats up the fuel. WOT the carb will per surge and a better idle with a carb setup though as its easier to tune for that.

Now a carb style intake will have a better performance setup as its intake runners are all just about equal length (no #7+8 starvation), they are shorter runners than the EFI manifold, They will stand up to boosted application and nitrous backfires MUCH better, and they look way cooler . Mines going to have a street scoop mounted to it and sticking out of my hood to give it an old school look since my carb choke horn just about touches my hood as it is.

That is almost a religious discussion with some people.

The carb intake is an open plenum design that seems to have some top end air flow advantages. GM sells an LS2 crate motor in both a fuel injected and carb'd version. With the same cam and exhaust they rate the carb version at 446 HP and the FI at 405. Maybe they used a more agressive tune with the carb, but my guess the difference is more with the manifold more than the carb.

Really it comes down to what you want to do and how well each option fits your situation. They both can be made to perform.

Why do the elbow instead of going straight up into a 4bbl-style throttle body? I'm toying with that idea and doing a functional cowl induction air cleaner. The downside is what to do about the MAF--really don't want to run speed-density.

Great discussion here.....so have I read correct, the 6010 box MSD is not the same as the Edelbrock LS1 TCM (that says "by MSD" on it) ?

I want the timing retard functions, and programmable curves so looks like the 6010 is the ticket. Nitrous, blower, all is good.
